Now that I think about it. You should really see only a 1/4" of difference if you did swap the springs.

As someone in another thread did, the struts bottom setting piece can be installed incorrectly and add more lift. Could one side be installed differently?

Year and color markings have nothing in common.

I still think they are side specific unless someone can prove me wrong. There's nothing that should cause the truck to sit 1 inch lower on one side then the other if it's sitting on level ground. The only other thing that could cause this is if someone set one of the 5100's to one setting and the other 5100 to a different setting.

The colors I gave earlier were my take off springs. The springs that I installed were from a different truck. I dont know what year they are from and I went and looked and did not see any paint on the springs. I will upload pics later but to the vest of my knowledge i have them installed correctly and on the same snap ring location. I have them set on the 1.75 setting. My drivers side was 22.5 and passenger was 23.5. Thanks

I'm more interested in your info regarding color markings which I thought you said you knew?

You said the same year coils will be marked the same - which was wrong.

On my 2015 sport DCLB yellow/yellow is driver and yellow/white passenger. Don't know if that helps.

How is that? Two springs with identical lift will be 1/2 inch lower on the driver side. A spring with 1/2 inch higher lift on the driver side will be even on both sides. A spring with 1/2 inch greater lift on the passenger side will be 1 inch higher on the passenger side.

    Swap sides.

Okay max difference would be a 1/2". If you believe that the drivers side Spring oem provides 1/4" extra lift due to the heavier weight. I only come to this conclusion because of a 1/4" top plate spacer is suppose to even the truck from driver to passenger with aftermarket srpings(same rating for each side)

I don't know what the drivers side oem spring provides in lift. But everyone says when using aftermarket springs to get 1/4 top plate spacer to level. If that's correct than a maximum of 1/2" should be seen on the passenger side.

The 1/4in spacer gives 1/2in lift due to the geometry of the suspension. Think of it this way. One spring is designed to lift 1/2 inch higher than the other because one side weighs more and decreases height by 1/2 inch. If you put the springs on the wrong side the shorter spring will provide 1/2 inch less lift than designed (remember it was already designed to provide 1/2inch less on the lighter side) due to weight and the longer spring will provide 1/2 inch more lift due to less weight (it was designed for more weight). That equals 1 inch total from one side to the other.

    Okay.

You are correct in that point I forgot a 1/4 transfers to a 1/2" lift.

So far I've checked 5 different Tacomas, not including mine. One 2013, two 2014's and two 2015's. All 5 of these Tacomas coils were marked with the same colors (brown/white & brown/yellow). My coils were also marked with this same color scheme. All 5 of these Tacomas had the same color scheme on each side. So this is how I was able to verify which side my coils needed to go on. ALL Tacomas in these years may not have the same color scheme on the coils but of the 5 I was able to verify, they all were marked the same.

The brown on some of the coils almost has a yellow color to them if they are really worn so some may think they are seeing yellow/yellow and yellow/white.

Well.... I just got done swapping sides and some how or another I am still and inch high on the same side I don't see how that happened. About to say forget about it and order some Eibach's.

I have the struts set up right with only one snap ring location above the bottom spring mount. That is the 1.75 mark. Don't know what could throw me off an inch no matter which strut is on that side.

Post a pic of your coilovers with the lower setting piece pictured. You could have it upside down.

You sure your ass end isn't the sag you see ?

EDIT: Reason I say that is so often its rear leafsprings that make the whole truck sag on one side or the other

New Skyjacker leaf springs. Center of hub to fender is the same on both sides. I haven't had the truck lined up yet but I don't think I could make up an inch on an alignment.
