I had to get a picture of the gun and truck at the last range day. The next upgrades on the list are for a better trigger (looking at CMC 2-stage) and better bipod. Suggestions are welcomed!

Super cool gun. They have another in blued steel that holds a few more rounds, too. An 1895GBL, IIRC.

Mine is the stainless version (1895 SBL) of the 1895 GBL which has the blued steel, 6 round tube, no rail (though it's drilled and tapped), and buckhorn sights. Mine's stainless with the 6 round tube, comes with the rail and ghost ring sights.

All of the 18.5" barrels are considered guide guns. They have one 22" and a 24". All the straight stocks and 22" have 4 rd tubes. But yeah. Mine's a remlin, new production and it's fit and finish is excellent. Too many biased people slinging stores on the internets for the last 12 months to feel better about them overpaying for used JM stamped guns.

Granted it wasn't until mid 2015 the quality came back to the remlin ones.

That and warranties work, most people who got a boogered one had it fixed under warranty after they sent it back.

Cleaned up this old serpent after a recent trip to the range. They sure don't make them like they used to...

I read there were some problems with Remlin early on but now everything is sorted out. Wonder if it was due to Remington moving out of NY..

My unit had so many problems with EoTech that they stopped using them completely. Not just the thermal shift problem that has gotten L3 (manufacturer of EOTech) sued, but just in general they tended to break and needed to be replaced. Might be fine if you're not using it in combat ops and beating the shit out of them though. They also eat up batteries. If someone wants a red dot I would go with the Aimpoint micro. Those can take a beating and batteries literally last for years. Otherwise, if a combat ready optic is needed with 3x just spend the money and get an ACOG. I wouldn't recommend ever dropping or banging any optic but I've put ACOGs through hell and had luck with them holding a zero. I still checked my zero pretty often when I was downrange. Can't ever be too careful when your life depends on the thing :)

If someone just wants an optic for range use or hunting there are more affordable and appropriate optics for those applications. Like with anything its important to identify requirements so the proper equipment is selected for the job.
