New wheel from SCS. Vin is killing it. I like it. Shame it's not in a better offset.

Yeah I saw that damn thing. If I wasn't kinda sorta in the market for a new truck I could see a set of bronze or gunmetal ones on this one.

    Impress me

I need Gadget to hurry up and release a S/C for these new tacos so I can bring myself to not buy a fullsize truck! I don't think I will have as much light as you , but I might give your current setup a run for its money if I do everything I have planned.

So how many of you guys are in apartments vs homes? Or have experience in renting homes vs apartments? Since the gf is moving down here in May, I have to move out of my company provided place. So I've been shopping around. Only need a 1 bedroom, but usually can find 2 beds for the same cost range.

My only thing is I would really like a garage. She just wants a nice bathtub and somewhere that will let us get a dog.

The advantage of an apartment would be nice for how much I travel. Don't have to worry about tending the lawn or shoveling snow, just pack up and go. But the privacy and space of a home is so much nicer.

Any thoughts/opinions? It seems for the most part costs between the apartments vs houses are actually pretty close.

when we looked up here what it costed for a nice apartment gave us a pretty mediocre house. We dont have a dog so there was no need for a yard and ours has a 1 car garage that fits my wife 4runner and my cbr 600rr and all my tools and mountain bike. Go view some of the rental homes around ur price of rent for an apartment and then decide what u like best. Ideally a dog in an apartment sounds like it isnt fair for the dog but thats just my opinion.

Rent if you are temporary. I avoid apartments like the plague. They are never dog friendly (even if they allow dogs), you constantly have new people moving in and out around you, and the landlords are generally dicks. They have to deal with a lot of crappy people and tend to treat everyone as such.

I rent housing because things are generally a lot more flexible. Aside from one experience I have been able to build a good relationship with my landlords. This allowed me to break my lease early in my last place and also get the option to leave whenever in my current place. While it isn't your place, it feels more like a home than an apartment. You two probably don't want a roommate but if you have a good friend down there you could split a nice two bedroom and save some coin.

I would much rather buy but its not an option.

Felt like summer here in Laramie. Well spring/summer. Shorts and a tee all day. Really wanted to sit outside with a cold beer but I have some exams to prepare for.

Was nice here. Spring here is very nice. Once the humidity gets here it'll suck though. Been super windy too which made me feel at home haha

Most of the apartments come with a 1 car garage. So I can store the 4runner while driving the work truck. That's my plan is to just compare them all. They are all similar price for a monthly rent.

Yea, theres a few available but not as many as you would think.

There in is the big problem. I don't know if Im going to be here for 6 months, a year, or 5 years. And getting any info on my future position from them is like pulling teeth.

Every place I talk to I have mentioned getting out of the leases early and its usually a 2 month rent buy out fee it seems.

With how much I travel, its nice thinking an apartment for the gf. She has people around and less likely of things like break-ins. Plus people close by if she needs help. Also way less maintenance, which is a large issue with traveling a bunch. The apartments are usually a bit nicer as well. More modern, and usually better on utilities. The downside is space is an issue, and it is tough with a larger dog and not fair they don't get a good yard to run, even when the apartments have "dog parks".

If I could buy a home I would, I hate thinking of throwing hte money away for a rental. But its more of a service, so gotta pay for it.

The privacy of a home is a huge plus, plus in most cases they are more sq ft for the same price. We don't need a 3 bed, but i have found a tone of 3 beds for the same cost as a 2 bed apartment. Its also much easier to have a pet for an extended time if we do end up being here for a while. And I can be picky and get a decent garage hopefully, although most still seem to be smaller sized 1 cars. Utililies will probably cost a bit more in most of the older styled homes that are up for rent. Also have to consider maintenance of the lawn and shoveling snow, which isn't a huge issue, but becomes one when I am gone for work extended periods of time.

The dog issue isn't exactly crucial at the moment because we haven't gotten a new one yet. We had to put my little guy down a few weeks ago back in Montana, and I planned on getting her moved here and settled before we complicate things more with a new puppy.

Appreciate all the opinions guys! Just trying to get it narrowed down to what will work best long run.

Just keep browsing and the right place will come up. Very few landlords will be willing to say you can break a lease. It's a chance you will have to take but generally I have found landlords will work around leases if you are a great tenant that takes care of the place, pay on time, and are friendly. When the time comes give them a good 2 months notice and allow them to actively show the place while you live there.

When I had to break my lease I gave the landlord 2.5 months notice, cleaned it up, and helped show/advertise the place. We ended up moving people in the day after we moved out. It was a win win for all involved.
