Unlikely to happen. She's pretty dedicated to being anti-gun. She's essentially the living embodiment of that hippie chick that's in all of the memes.

My girlfriends roommates are like that. Took them shooting and they realize they aren't scary. They still think they should be illegal, but not afraid anymore

I know. I was just joking. I consider getting them to think I'm not crazy is a success.

These are people who think nobody should own one. They say the police will help if we need them. Same people who cry police brutality all the time. I don't get it.

SO Anyway, back to survival-y stuff...

Finally decided to join the modern world (kind of) and ordered an MSR Whisperlite for my BOB. I figure that it'll be a lot lighter than Ye Olde Coleman single burner I've got now. But, I'll keep the Coleman around because it's dual fuel, which would be handy if I got stranded with the truck somewhere.

Weapons are a huge part of survival stuff. When times get hard and you have stuff, people are gonna want that stuff. People that may have ar15s, which are hard to defend against with a lever action rifle. Just something to think about.

I have one of those. Really nice.

Agreed. I think the best weapon for SHTF is a handgun though unless you have a vehicle. My truck is fucked if there's an EMP so me hauling an AR down the street on my back just makes me a target.

Oh I forgot to mention on here I sold my Tacoma and got a new bug out vehicle!

Yeah, but disparaging people that don't like guns isn't, really. Just trying to draw us back on track before we wander off into politics.

This one depends on where you are located. Handguns are definitely easier to conceal, but you trade off long range and versatility. For instance, all you can do with a handgun is shoot/intimidate people, up close. A rifle or shotgun allows for hunting or long-range deterrent as well, but you're not likely to do much of that in a city.

This has nothing to do with politics, it is survival. Choosing people's feelings over survival isn't a good survival plan.

I agree with not having a full sized rifle on your back to an extent. Something with a folding stock in a backpack would be a better choice.

Oh, and if it's a true SHTF scenario, don't walk on the roads if you can help it.

I live in CA. If I have a non concealed weapon, I'd be attacked and people would freak. I suppose you're right. In other states where everybody has rifles you'd be fine.
