Damn, that doesn't sound good. And unfortunately the real way to see if there's anything wrong is probably through and MRI like I had to do. Xray didn't do much. I too lift alot of heavy shit at work (work on wind turbines) and we deal with being in terrible positions... that's how I got hurt to begin with, at work.

Thanks, I appreciate you looking out for me :) I actually have been feeling better. I did take alot of time off from heavy lifting and certain exercises. I stopped everything I love and basically did upper body 2x a week only. I had to miss several days at work and did many light duty days. The only thing that appeared to be helping me was continuous visits to the chiro. I did take alot of ibprofen and crap, some natural muscle relaxers and such on days I felt I needed it. Once I felt good enough I started back in the gym and have been doing well. I still don't squat or deadlift same week due to the pain I was in, this week I may try it out and keep one or the other lighter.

On the deadlift I felt it most when I hit the bottom, basically when the weights hit the floor. With squats, I felt it mainly the whole time, and it was TERRIBLE when I racked the weight. Is it similar to you?

I'd like to see a video of both to see if it isnt a form issue, odd time for it to hurt. Also, sounds to me like a slipped or bulging disc.

I herniated a disk at the L5/S1 location confirmed by MRI. I however did not have leg pain from the sciatic nerve like most people. I had pain consistent with what you describe. It took me about 9 months to a year to go from an empty bar back to what I was hitting before the injury. It still bothers me if I am hitting squats to often or too heavy but it acts as a good "safety" telling me when to back off.

I stopped DLing overall after hurting it the first time. I actually had some success doing sumos but for some reason I never got into it. I feel the pain at the bottom of the movement when I squat. Right when I'm about to drive up with my heels. I've noticed the lower I go, the more it hurts. I've always squatted atg too.

Walked in the gym today to a newbie (though he looked fit...from the waist up). He was wearing sweats and doing 'squats.' He was in the smith machine and had a 45+35 on one side. The other side was empty. Is this a thing? Or was he just doing newb stuff?

Could absolutely not get into the mindset at the gym. Dunno wtf was up with that. But after 10 minutes I just wanted to say fuck it. I made it 90 minutes before I finally said to hell with it and went home. Worked on chest and didn't even hit max stayed at low weight high reps all night :-/

Up until this week I've been doing low weight, high rep. And I figured I'd switch it up and do 10-15 reps each this week. Ended up doing the exact same weight, but more reps. Guess this lifting thing is paying off.

Oh yea, for those of you not in the snapchats, there's been this douche in the gym lately. Same one I said was taking pics of himself flexing and stuff. He walks around with ILS, or, invisible Lat Syndrome. He's got it bad. Then, tonight, he decides his first set of flat dumbbell bench should be with the 75s. Gets his buddy to help him push it up...he's pushing his elbows. Gets it about halfway up, can't get it so he decides to push the weights together. Buddy still pushing his elbows. He can't get it. Drops it. Almost crushed his face.

So, I almost saw a guy die tonight. #egolifter

Lol! I like the ILS!! We have used "Chronic Lat Spread Syndrome" out here in Cali forever... So classic when twerp wannabe tough guys walk around like that. 75lb dumbbell bench is a warm-up weight..

We have one of those, although after someone jumped his ass one night for trying to bench to heavy and almost killing himself he rarely comes in. I think he was benching like 210 or some ridiculously low number. I heard the guy screaming at him after he went and got the weights off. And the dumb kid saying " BRO I had it! I didn't need your help!" Typical douchey privaledged kid.

Me too. If I'm being spotted on DB bench, I ask them to grab my wrists. I've seen too many people almost do what this kid did tonight with someone pushing on elbows.

I don't care how much weight they're doing. Everyone starts somewhere. Shit...I didn't squat over 185 tonight. Everyone was probably making fun of me. But, 0 fucks given. So I also don't care how much someone else is doing. BUT...if you start out for your first set trying to do too much and lift with your ego, you're an idiot. I remember when I could barely bench the 75s. This kid just thinks he's a badass all around. Started trying to talk to me the other day about his badass new UnderArmour pants. Tonight be tried to talk to me about all the new supps he got today and how he's gonna get huge. I don't want to have anything to do with him. I try to ignore him for the most part. It sounded like a gay porn in there tonight though. With him, his lifting partner and one other guy in there, all grunting as loud as they could, I was getting uncomfortable.
