It's a longer spring so even with settling it'll still be harder on the shock absorber. I don't think its recommended to put it at .85. Seems like you could end up with a snapped shock

    Click my build thread!
I been thinking about getting new coils since I installed my steel bumper (no winch though). But instead of just adding coils to my 5100's I think I may just sell the 5100's and get OME 9000 shocks with 886 coils. Seems like from the 12 pages here that seems like the way to go, unless someone else has a better recommendation.

What could I expect lift wise from the 9000's and 886 coils 2-2.5?

To be honest I don't know which one. I took my truck back to my alignment place and they found a loose nut somewhere in the driver's side.

Looks real nice man. Did you do the top-plate spacers on both sides with the 887s? Or only the on the drivers side for the lean, or none at all?

Thanks. I only did the driver side spacer for the lean.

Thinking of going with this setup...887s with 5100s all four corners and some sort of progressive leaf pack in the rear.

    My questions are:

-Do I need to get new UCAs? I realize most people who run a 3 inch or close to it seem to switch out their stock ones for LCA, Camburg, etc. in regards to getting better alignment. Can you still get solid alignment numbers with stock UCAs?
-Are extended brake lines necessary with this setup?
-How are everyone's CV boots holding up?
-Seems like most people are running no diff drop...is that actually the case or is that something that would be necessary as well?
-I'm looking at a couple different progressive leaf pack options (Wheelers, Headstrong, and Toytech) What is everyone's thoughts on these and which one is a good option to go with. I realize the front will be about 3 inches maybe a little less after it settles and would like the rear to sit level with it. I do have a snug-top shell so that would be something to keep in mind.

    Thanks in advance!!

All of the 3 leaf progressive AALs you listed are the same in every way, except price - so get what's the cheapest version. They're all made by the same spring manufacturer to the same specs and then are labeled under whichever company and then sold.

I ran Wheeler's unit (this was before HeadStrong had one) and it worked good, I left the overload spring in my stock leafs so I ended up with about 2" of lift in the rear. I was happy with that setup until I bought a shell, then that 220 lbs of constant load took half of that lift away immediately and the whole setup was too soft for my needs.

Right on, that's definitely great info to know about the AALs! Yea I too currently have a shell on my bed which I definitely plan on keeping after the lift. What setup did you end up going with to compensate for the shell?

do you guys think that i should just get progressive AALs with my new TSB pack or just get the whole new dakars?

And another thing no one seems to have the answer to is how much lift will i need in the back to LEVEL FOR 887s??? I have a stock set up so no extra weight. i really hope i can get the answer to this so i dont have to go back in after ive installed my leafs

Full Dakar pack, which I weighed heavily with just adding RideRite bags - in the end I knew eventually my OEM leaf pack would need replacing so it made more sense just to do it now and be done with it.

Up to you. Without a constant load in the bed, Dakars are a little stiff. If you run them, you might want to read up on removing a leaf to soften the ride (and the load carrying ability).

thank you. I dont usually have anything in the bed and i dont really plan on having extra weight either. was thinking it would just be cheaper to run progressives because its a brand new tsb 4 leaf that i will be getting with the recall. Im thinking that even with AALs. the new tsb pack will hold for plenty of years to come.

Definitely cheaper to get the AALs, if you don't haul or tow I'd stick with the AALs and the new leaf pack. You'll be hard pressed to find a nicer setup for that kind of price ($160 or so).

Every truck is different. Some guys get 3" with 887s and I've seen a few get 2.25-2.5".

I'd measure your heights now and try and see if your expected lift heights front and rear seem like they'll be okay, and how much wiggle room you might have.

If you don't have the new leaf packs in yet I would wait until you do.

I am running 887's I got 3" from them and my alignment came in fine. I've read stories where UCA where a must just to get her aligned. Mine came out good.

one more question. What do you guys think about running a 1/2" spacer for driverside lean and 1/4 Spacer on passengerside? with 887s Of course and 1.5 inch AAL???? This will give a little more lift, Level, And clearance.

I think earlier someone was saying that it might be a little to much angle for CV

I'd tackle that when things are installed and you see what you actually need.
