Hey all, My 2009 tacoma has a 6" pro comp lift and rides really stiff on and off road. I know this is pretty common with lift kits, but I was wondering if there is anything I can do about it because i feel every little bump in the road. I feel it mostly up front. Possibly witching springs or buying an aftermarket coilover suck as fox or king could help? Any input would be appreciated!

Pro Comp lifts have a reputation for being rough. Buying fox, King, icon, or ADS would give you a really nice ride

Were your tires added at the same time as the lift? If they are E rated, that could make the rough ride a little more rough.

Yes they are E rated and were added about the same time as the lift. will buying new tires make for a smoother ride? I am willing to try anything haha, I really hate the way this thing rides on the road and especially iff the road on all the little chatter sections. the previous own installed the lift, I would have just gone with long travel personally or mid travel

It might, but depends on what size tires, there might not be a big selection. And make sure you don't have some crazy high air pressure in your tires too.

My tires are 33". And Ill check the tire pressure and see if maybe I can let some air out. But definitly going to look into some aftermarket coilovers

It doesn't matter what brand shocks you buy, it matters how they are valved. Call a competent offroad shock shop, like Downsouth Motorsports, and tell them what you want. They will build the coilovers valved in a manner that they will ride like you want.

If you just buy a set of coilovers, you're basically tossing the dice as you're not looking at how they are valved. Most coilovers are valved stiff, compared to stock, for offroad use.

@vrod671 The Pro Comp Kit comes with some pretty big spacers.

@Mxpatriot What tires pressure would be ideal? And okay, thank for the advice. Im actually taking my shocks off my polaris rzr to take to walker evans to be rebuilt/ revalved so maybe ill toss acouple questions there way as well

Just a bunch of old crap
Spacers are the reason for horrible ride. Plus, that first pic sure doesn't look like a 6" lift. Looks like a 3".

@Seabass. The guy I bought it from said 6". But you're right, looks more like a 3". I'll have to dig through the receipts he gave me to double check. How heady would it be to remove the lift completely?

    Yes
No in this case they are not, they are a 6" spacer but the OE coil over is still exactly in the OE configuration. It is not a spacer added with the UCA and LCA still in the OE locations so it is not preloading the spring etc. Yes, it is a 6" DB kit just look at the front view

It is a 6" drop bracket lift, I can see the drop bracket in your photo. Is your truck 4WD or 2WD, if it is 2wd it is easy to remove and lower it down to a 3" lift...a ton of work but easy to do. You would need to find some stock spindles to buy though. I can do the work for you at very reasonable pricing and have done it a few times before both 2wd and 4wd.

He has the stage 1 kit that still uses the OE coil overs so it is not the harsh PC CO's. He is feeling load range E tires...

Yes my truck is 4wd. Harder to take all the crap off from the lift? I'm thinking maybe it's a good idea to return to stock and then just get an aftermarket coil over
