I like the clearance of the lift but I'd rather go maybe with a mid travel system to keep the ride smoother

If you are 4wd your frame has actually been cut where the front drive shaft leads to the front differential. If you lay under your truck you will see approx a 6" wide chunk of you frame has been chopped out. A lot of work but still pretty basic to do, if you are interested in getting a quote to do all of the work PM me. I am in San Diego.

Here is an example of a truck that had a 4wd drop bracket removed and the frame plated and boxed to patch it back together :

Wow that seems like a lot of work. But maybe later on down the road I'll look more into that, for now I'm just looking for a simple fix to a smoother ride

i believe the DB 6" lift uses an 8' coilover. dont quote me though. the spacer is causing the shit ride. if an 8" coiover does work, hit up downsouthmotorsports and let them know what you want. they can customize the coilover for you.

mark, I don't believe the spacer is the problem because everything else is dropped down as well.

I understand the lift issues and how a spacer will make it worse. I also get the E range tire but to start what air pressure do you have in the tires? It's a start until you can sort out the suspension issues.

I'm not sure what air pressure, I'll have to check

Another question, as far as off roading and wheeling with a db lift what are everyone's thoughts? Is it better to offroad with a more stock setup? Obviously a long travel system is ideal but it's alittle out of the price range for a college student like me lol

No and no, the spacer in a drop bracket kit does not preload the CO at all it is simply a dropped mounting point for the top of the OE CO therefore it has zero affect on ride quality. No, an 8" CO will not work on a 6" lift, the static, extended and compressed lengths are not correct. The only company that makes a 6" lift custom CO that is actually correct is the BDS Fox CO. Icon claims to make one but it actually reduces available travel...and well...it's digressive Icon stupidity.

The OP may be running into the same issues I had with the Pro Comp stage 1 kit. After adding the excessive weight of an ARB bumper & winch...the stock springs are really compressed from the extra weight & the shocks are useless after a while....just slap worn out.

@Warputer i never thought about that, maybe that's something I should look into when buying an aftermarket coilover

You need to be careful about what advice you are taking, because most of what you're getting is just people parroting what they read and what they did. Mid-travel is a great set up for a truck that will see dirt, but it's not the answer to everything - especially someone complaining about a harsh ride on the street.

Your drop bracket lift is not what is giving you a harsh ride - your spring rate and shock valving is what is giving you a harsh ride. You could swap to a mid-travel set up with the same shock valving and spring rate and have the exact same issue. You need less preload, a lighter weight spring, and/or a "softer" valved shock. I'm guessing your pro comp coilovers are not adjustable for any of that - so you need new coilovers.

Drop bracket lifts are a good option for primarily street driven trucks. They give you "the look" while still maintaining stock geometry, for the most part. You actually have less ground clearance than a mid-travel truck, because the bracket is "dropped". The only additional clearance you are gaining is from larger tires.

Call a competent offroad shop. Order a set of "soft" valved coil overs. Enjoy the cushy ride. That's the easiest option that actually solves the problem.

Your best bet is as others above mentioned....U need a company with personal service to set you up with a coil over rated at 700lbs with proper valving.....I recommend http://downsouthmotorsports.com/ as a start. They will, answer all your questions.

He has stock shocks and a giant spacer, how is that not affecting his ride?
