Nah. It's too small. I'm just gonna find a helicoil kit even though they are expensive

The oil hose on the left side of the bike. Runs from the bottom of the motor to the oil tank. The bolt that attaches to the motor got stripped

Timesert it for strength. I'd only helicoil if it was something that didn't take much torque.

Aren't they pretty much the same thing? I don't think it takes much torque at all. Like a case cover bolt. Just went a tad too far.

Doesn't take much with aluminum, either.

Timesert uses threaded inserts that bite into the material around the hole for strength, helicoil uses an insert too but it's mostly just held in by the strength of loctite. I helicoiled an oil filter door on my engine since it wasn't leaking when only held in with the strength of the second good screw but for anything requiring more than 10NM or a good seal I'd do it right and get a Timesert.

It might be ok but shrug. If my oil fiter door had been leaking with only one screw holding it in I'd have ordered a timersert kit so I could be sure it won't strip again.

    How does that work?

They need to just make DI 2 strokes... Apparently they know how too, but they say it will be just as expensive, heavy, and the same maintenance as a 4 stroke. Which kinda defeats the purpose of the 2 stroke. Still would be cool though. Since 2 stroke make more power per displacement I feel like they could still be lighter than the 4 stroke and still have the same power via smaller displacement.

Uses a metering rod in the slide area. YouTube a description and it'll tell it better than I can. I've seen nothing but good things on them. They come to your door already dyno tested and setup. Pretty much bolt on and forget for us lazy guys who don't care tinker with jetting

:notsure: the few times I've used a helicoil I just threaded it in after the new threads were cut and didn't have issues. I'll look for a timesert though

It might be ok, but timeserts are a lot stronger. For anything case related or under stress I'd use a timesert (engine head bolts, case half-bolts, oil drains, high pressure oil lines). Also a good rule of thumb my friends and I follow is 10NM or less is helicoil territory. 10 and above is Timesert territory.

I've had and seen friends pull out helicoils after working on their bikes that have had helicoils installed previously, but have never seen one pull out a timesert.

Not sure if I'm going to be able to make it to the supermoto meet in Branson now... Have to see if a friend of mine will swap a day with me and hope for the best. Still don't think I'll be able to.

This is for the San Diego crowd. I am visiting S.D. from UTAH and my wife and I are looking for a shop with a lot of clothing options. Can some one point us in the right direction. We have been to Cyle Gear here but have not found what we are looking for. We are looking for Kevlar Jean's and Boots. As we don't have many shops to choose from at home. Please reply to this thread or PM me. Thanks in advance.
