Strange Front Seat / Seatbelt Scenario Problem

In the last week or so, Ive had an issue with the front passenger seat and the the seatbelt alerts. If someone occupies the seat, and then exits the truck while its still running (i.e. I drop someone off somewhere) the seat seems to believe its still occupied and I get the seatbelt chimes and flashing alert.

I do have Wet Okoles installed, however I dont know how that would necessarily change the system. Any insight from a guru would be greatly appreciated!

 

You have weight/load sensors in the seat, looks like your seat covers are on too tight (common prob) and pressing the cushion down on the sensor making it think someone is sitting in the seat.

 

I thought that...but I dont have the problem any other time (empty, gym bag, etc.) Its only when a body occupies the seat and then gets out. Really doesnt seem like the WO's would change that at all...but I could be, and probably am wrong.

 

^^ There are two sensors, one in the seat and one in the back support. I suspect it is the one in the back support that is causing the problem. I would take the WO's off the front passenger seat and see what happens.

 

Don't you have a key to turn off the passenger air bag? That should cut the seatbelt noise right? Happy I bought an 2005, it never tells me to put my belt on.

 

DCs don't have that feature, I guess it's because we have a full size back seat (for the child seat).

 

Ahh, there's the problem. You have a double cab

 

before you take the WOs off try this. put soemthing with some weight to it in the seat and buckle it in. drive a sec and have soemone open the door and remove it. see what happens. shouldn't take a lot of weight to get the truck to think its a person.
regardless you could do the seatbelt chime shutoff. here it is.

1) Turn the Car 'ON', but do not start the engine (Leave your foot off the brake). Cycle your trip reset knob until it reads ODO. Turn the ignition back off. Wait a couple of seconds.
2) Make sure seat belt is not fastened
3) Turn the ignition back on, do not start the car (Leave you foot off the break) As soon as you see everything light up, press and hold the trip reset knob and do a long 12 second count.
4) Keep your finger on the trip reset knob. Fasten your seat belt, as soon as you fasten your seat belt, you should see the ODO display go from XXXX miles to "b-on". At that time take your finger off the trip reset knob and press it again. It should cycle to "b-off". You should be all set and turn the ignition off and unfasten your seat belt.

This work on Carolla and Prius?

I had the problem with a cab commander that hangs off the head rest and only touches the seat back.
I must have had too much stuff in it.
