    Hey Guys & Gals...

I've been scouring the classifieds trying to find the best deal on a Taco and I believe tomorrow is the BIGGG DAY!!!

My question is should I go with the 4 or 6 cylinder Taco?

This will be a work truck primarily carrying wood trim and stuff used in repairing homes nothing too heavy or major.

I like the gas mileage perks of the 4 cyl but I love knowing that I have a little extra power with the 6 cyl and the added resale value is a bonus as well.

    Thanks for your feedback!

Just look at the build thread
If you have to question if a 4cyl is right for you, it's not.

LOL... Because of the amount of driving I do living in this sprawling metropolis called Houston I gotta at least consider it strongly.

In Houston, your best bet is a basic 5-lug I4 5-speed. You'll get 25+ on the highway vs 18-20 at best with the V6 in any pre-runner or 4x4 configuration, and you have 4 inches more to lift anything into the bed.

This assumes you are looking at used, they no longer make the 5-lug.

I do everything with a simple access cab work truck like you want, payload is essentially the same as v6.

I drove both and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by the power of the 4-banger. I'm guessing it's pretty flat in Houston, you'd prob be fine with the 4-banger.

But I just bought a v6. Figured if I'm gonna spring for a truck, I want one with guts.

    Well peeps...
After looking at a ka-jillion Taco's I FINALLY settled on one, thanks for all of your help by answering newbie questions and posting your trucks! Thanks

My first Mod will be adding a hitch, new grill and replacing the running boards.

    I recommend V6 as 4 cylinder 2TR engine doesn't last long.
