Very nice. Did you paint them yourself? Trying to decide on powder coat or no.

From what I have gathered, DOM is a term used by the hot rod / racing communities to designate welded mild steel tubing which has been drawn over mandrel. Seamless tubing is made by drawing the billet over mandrel, so I think this leads to confusion.

On one hand you have the material grade. This designates the chemical composition (% carbon, chrome, moly, silicon, nickle, etc.) and the physical properties (UTS, yield strength, percent elongation, etc.).

Then you have the manufacturing process. Rolled and welded. Rolled and welded and subsequently drawn over mandrel. Seamless (which is drawn over mandrel).

In a nut shell, it's very strong :)

I think everyone sufficiently answered this, but I'll add my input.

'Drawn Over Mandrel' or DOM is a term used to refer to tubing that is finished in a very particular way. After the tubing is rolled and welded, it is pulled over a die of specific size. This process cold works the tube, stretching it to the correct size. The result is a harder steel that is more dimensional accurate and seamless. The extra step in manufacturing makes is about 3x more expensive too.

The extra hardness makes it more bend resistant and stiffer. Both are good things for rock sliders. So, get it while it's free.

Could you please provide the approximate weight for a set of your sliders? I looked but did not see it on your website.

Steel is steel is steel. It all has the same resistance to bending, or stiffness, for a given size and shape of structure (wall thickness and diameter in the case of round tubing). Things like DOM vs ERW, the hardness, the type of alloy etc only affect the strength; in other words the load under which it will yield (stay bent and not spring back) or actually break. But before that point is reached, all steels will deflect exactly the same amount under a given load.

Correct. Bending stiffness is a function of the cross section shape (moment of inertia). I meant to say the cold working makes it more dent resistance. Thanks for pointing that out.
