On a side note - rant: Why are there no fab shops for taco parts up here... or everyone who sells stuff in the marketplace are always from cali...

 

Tacomas in the Northeast don't last long enough before they rust out for a custom fab shop to design parts for them

 

Agreed. All the cool stuff for sale is always from them out there and it's always "pick up only" or "local sale only". It's a fucking bummer.

It's not a color, it's a commitment.
I had a black Grand Cherokee and swore that I'd never own another black vehicle. Except for a brief fling with a '99 Frontier I've stuck to it, and I only owned that truck for 6 months and never washed it the whole time

 

Are you talking about the George Washington State park on the RI/CT line?

I thought you had a booster seat?

Haha yeah I said the same thing 4 black cars shop. All of the new cars I've ever bought I had to order. Could have gotten any color, they have all been black

 

Have you seen the trucks out west vs. out here?? Just a much bigger market for them.

I had one black truck, fortunately it was while I lived in Richmond, VA and only a few months up here. You're right, it's a commitment, when it was clean it looked great, but it was hard to keep it looking that way. I don't think I could handle having a black vehicle up here in the salt.

 

That's why I don't drive mine when there's salt on the ground

 

Thinking about ordering a front/rear bumper soon. I'm tempted to just do a DIY kit and have my fab guy weld it up. He's against making bumpers for my truck and swamped with a custom turbo kit for a Rx-7 anyways.

I started with black cars then bought a white evo and white wrx... now I have a blue taco and white evo..

White is so much easier to maintain for me mostly because it hides pollen like silver and I never drive the car in the bad weather so it stays white.

The taco on the other hand will probably never get a hand wash, especially the roof or middle section of the hood.. I can't reach it.... She's covered in salt right now and some mud because some idiot slammed on the brakes in front of me and I decided to take the long way around the guard rail..

I am aware and it sucks.

 

Black on black gives me a heart attack..

 

I had a black vw. Vw had the absolute worst paint to begin with in the mid 90s. If you leaned on the car it would scratch/smear..... Hated it.

 

Sounds like the subaru black of today.. takes 3x the amount of time to properly polish for swirl removal and is thinner than mitusbishi paint.

 

Nothing wrong with a black Taco, a little blast from the past!

 

Yeah, between salt/sand in the winter and pollen/dust in the summer it was impossible. I'd spend all afternoon washing, waxing, and polishing and then by the next morning it was covered in pollen again.

 

Kinda miss my Tacoma .

Wait until you two get trailers and really get to wheel those trail rigs. You wont miss the tacomas anymore.

 

Yeah I might start looking for a cheap trailer soon. The Tacoma was fun but I enjoy working on the 4Runner better.
