Hell yeah. No doubt it sounds awesome.

Like I said, I'd love to get one. For the most part, it would be very practical for the trips I do now.

Not my primary mode of camping but this works well for slam the door and go. Dog clears the tailgate nicely too. :D

I know a ton of guys who sleep in their tent with their pup. Or is your pup too big?

    He's dog sized :notsure:
nah, dog needs to get in and out on his own. I need to be able to unzip the door and let him out to run off the lions and bears because I'm sleeping exposed on the ground.
Helps when he needs to pee too.

honestly setup/tear down isn't that big a deal. MUCH less than a ground tent. I opened up my tent, and closed it about 5 times last night, show'n the GF, and some friends. took less than 2 min to open it up, and less than 3 to pack it all away. Granted I don't have anything in it (bags etc) but I could easily open up the tent, and re-pack it in less time than it takes to drink a morning cup of Joe. I have wanted one for a while, but seriously underestimated how easy they are to setup/tear down. literally, unzip, pull open... drink beer. reverse for closing up.

That's why I want it. Off the ground and stupid easy to setup and take down vs my ground tent. Usually at any trip I'm still setting up and my buddies are already drinking and chilling. RTT on trailer is ultimate goal.

That would be nice but not $2000 nice, not having to store the trailer and a RTT with all my other crap.

This, plus cost vrs ground tent, storage when not in use, higher center of gravity, harder to clean, exposed when on trails, level ground means level truck. Can it be packed with sleeping bags and clothes bags? I'm sure I can come up with more.

I'm not sure what kind of tents you guys use but I can have mine pulled out and set up in about 10 mins, entire camp packed in about 30.

I never got why people put their dogs in their tents. That's what kennels are for. Hell I don't even tie my dogs up anymore. Just let them roam free and set the kennels under the truck so they are dry if it rains.

This is true it the place they shine. Which is how I like to wheel. Camping in the same spots very night is lame.

I'm confused..that doesn't look like you could just drive away either. Seems like you'd have to pack that all up before you can go anywhere. So..why not just get a tent?

I never got topper camping. You have to totally unpack the bed or at least partially to setup your bed. Then re pack it to leave. When I do late night stuff I can have my bed un folded in a minute and packed in 2. But none of my gear gets moved.

Granted, I'm sure topper campers can pack and unpack pretty fast too. But I still don't get it really.

To each and to their own! The all dry storage is always nice

There are lots of cool pop up tents now. Check out OZ tent. Pretty slick. If I where to ditch the RTT that's what Id get.

The OZ tents are pretty cool. Price for tent, not so much.

True story. Tons of knock offs though. And you can find them used pretty easily. Always a few on ExpoP

NEMO makes some "air suspension" tents too...pack up super small since the polls are just air chambers you inflate. I used one when I camed off my motorcycle for a couple nights... setup took just a little longer (dependent on how long it took to air up) but was super simple, and perfect for backpacking.

Interesting idea. I dig it. Not sure it would work in windy conditions well though..or snow.
