Does the CDCV come normally on the icon stage 5 kits? I haven't been able to find much info on it, and it seems like maybe it's not on most of the kits I've seen.

I was told by an obviously unreliable source that they don't have a long life span. 70k miles is pretty good.

The cdcv is an upgrade, but definitely worth it IMO. Nice to be able to quickly adjust the ride characteristics in accordance with whatever terrain you're on.

Ha, yeah, I haven't had a single issue. I did rebuild my uniballs and replace uca bushings when I made the swap. Those items were still in great shape however I figured I might as well freshen them up while I had the chance since they were already off the truck

Just out of curiosity didn't ou have to CMC your 16 with the ICON UCAs? I'm want to order some kings but am nervous about what is best UCA for the 16.

Nope, I have not done the cmc, yet. I'm planning on going up a tire size from 285/70 to 285/75 and anticipate having to do the cmc when I make that move.

So do you think you are getting a better ride because of the extra weight up front the 2016 has? Or have they softened up over time? If you go with the first option, you would think it would be the same effect on the ride for every lift made for the 2gens that are put on the 3gens.

I'm going with the first. Honestly, it was a 48 hour time window from when the icon stuff came off the 12 and went on the 16. Instantly the ride was better on the 16. Even with the cdcv on the softest setting, the 12 still rode pretty damn rough whereas the 16 is more firm than stock but definitely much less firm than the 12 was

I'm thinking about going with a similar kit from Headstrong, 884's, single leaf, 5100' and UCA's. I have the same truck but Magnetic. I don't want much of any lift just a better ride and I do a lot of camping so I need help in the back also have a Snugtop on her. Man your a Sport looks sweet!

Hey Jerry, what would you go with in my application since you know how I use my truck for the most part, Kings or the Icons (with or without resis on the Icons)? I'm trying to get everything lined up so once I get my front bumper on I know exactly what I want to do with my suspension. I'd be using the LR UCA's and a progressive aal since I don't need Dakars yet. I know the Icons are digressive where the Kings are progressive but I'm not sure how that translates into ride quality. Thanks for all your help Jerry!

How does body roll compare on the '16 with the ICON versus the '16 with stock suspension? I am curious about body roll for long turns like sloping freeway on-ramps or 180 degree clover leafs.

I drove a '16 TRD Sport and did not like the amount of excessive body roll compared to my '99 with OME 881s.

Hmm, that's a tough call, especially since I don't personally have any experience with the kings. That said, I don't think you can go wrong with either. I definitely stand behind what Icon makes as I've had nothing but great luck with their products. If you were to go with the Icons, IMO I think it is worth upgrading to something with a Resi due to the added weight of the bumper, and the off roading you do, the resi will will be able to better handle the heat generated by the coil over, thus preventing shock fade and excessive wheel hop.

Again, I have never personally used the Kings, but I know people have had great luck with them. What I can say however is that the Icons ride exceptionally well on the 2016's, so either way, you'll have a great set up.

I agree, body roll in stock form is pretty bad, and one of the things I did not like about the truck when I got it(felt the same about my 2nd gens). However, with the Icon set up, that excessive body roll is gone. The truck holds firm in corners, and doesn't feel like it's going to flip. Overall, the entire suspension just feels more controlled and "planted" if that makes any sense. Everything just feels tighter

I'm in SD as well. I have a 2016 DCSB 4X4 TRD Sport. I added Bilstein 5100s all around with Dever AAL. I've been averaging around 16-17mpg. I think a lot of the mileage variance has to do with our crappy fuel in CA. They add all of the ethanol, etc. to improve emission levels.

Thanks man, its hard I keep hearing great things about both and its hard to make up my mind. I trust your onion and if you say they ride great than I don't doubt it. I was thinking about using the Icon group buy until I saw how disappointing it was. I'm still on the lookout for some used ones.
