I have HDB handguard, they won't work with twinwall style handle bars. But are very strong. I also like the flip out mirrors you can get with them too.

Likely the Pro Taper Bars that you have are 7/8" at the ends (as are all motorcycle handlebars) and increase to 1 1/8 where they mount to the triple tree. What this means is that unless you are using the BRP handguard mounts which also mount the handlebars, you will need center mounts that can handle that increase in diameter. The Cycra CRM center handguard mounts can handle that increase in diameter.....but this is exactly why I went with the BRP handguard mounts so you dont have to deal with an increasing diameter handlebar right where the center mounts for the handguards go because most of them never fit well. Take a close look at the links that I provided so you can see all elements of handguards:

    Actual alum handguards
Shields that go on the handguards
The inside or center mount clamp for the handguards
The outside or bar end mounts

If you look at the kits, they will have all of these components (and some are good and some are bad) and that is why I gave you the links at CycleBuy and all the components that I use.

What year, brand and model of motorcycle are you trying to fit?

Ok I'll look a little closer at all those links. Thanks for the explanation. Bike is a 1997 honda cr125r

Edit: so after looking at that closer I think I will get the BRP mounts, and enduro engineering bars. Do I need the bar end inserts and tap? Will the bar end hardware that come with the enduro engineering alum bars not work? Or is it just stronger?

Mmake sure the BRP handguard mounts work with your motorcycle before purchasing. Most handguards (including Enduro Engineering) come with expansion type bar end mounts. They will work but in my experience dont hold up to the pounding and cant keep the handguards from twisting on the bars when you go down. The threaded inserts where you tap the end of each bar will hold in there a lot better.

I dont know anything about '97 CR125s and whether the pro-taper bars you are running are the 1 1/8" at the triple tree and 7/8" at the outside. For all i know they are the same diameter 7/8" throughout the entire handlebar (at least that is my assumption on late 90's models) unless it has been upgraded. Do your research first before ordering. You should be able to visually see the larger diameter of the handlebars at the steering head (as compared to at the grips).

Ok thanks. I will have to check again but I'm pretty sure the bars get bigger towards where they are clamped( steering head)

opinions on 2007 GSX-R 600s? I've wanted one since I was a kid... but not sure what problems may come of a bike that age. Still in the research process

Not sure what you mean of that age? Bikes are just like cars all depends on who was taking care of it. They can last 50k miles or they can last 10k.

What kinds of things should I check to see if it's been maintained? I'm guessing check air filter, plugs, brakes, chain, etc?

I don't see you checking plugs very quickly. Air filter if you want, probably still a pain since it's under the seat usually. Chain, sprockets, tires, oil, brakes. Look for any signs of it being downed (still doesn't mean it's a bad bike). Nothing makes weird noises, everything seems to move smoothly (steering, wheels - would give you signs the bearings might need replaced). There isn't much to it.

Hopefully more than 100 miles, haha. I need to adjust my throttle cable some more but other than that she appears to be running smooth once some heat got in the jug and rings started to set.

Figured out why my speedometer wasn't working, the magnet on the rotor fell off, oops haha.

Gotta re-wire the ignition key (was draining the battery how I had it wired before). Then just need to change the ignition cover gasket. One day when school's not so crazy maybe...

On the upside I learn how to start IV's tomorrow. :D

Ha. Idk if you should be, I spent like $1500 on that damn motor now, not including the other $1200 for carb and exhaust.

It's a lot more peppy though, went for the maiden voyage again and it pulls wheel in first without a thought.
