I am in phase 4, Minnesota. I made an appointment and stopped in tonight for the dealership to inspect my leaf's for the potential for replacement. I added some ride-rite airbags a few years back to help when towing the boat. The dealership seemed to be ok performing the recall work even though I had these airbags installed, they said they didn't want to be blamed if the hardware snapped when removing the lower perch for the airbag since it straddles the leaf pack. I told them I would start hitting the hardware with PB Blaster and put out an email to firestone to see if I could order some new carriage bolts for the lower perch mount. MN winter / salt takes a toll on my undercarriage!

They tell me my truck isn't with their affected VIN numbers.

Front is aligned from the rear, you need to have the rear sensors to be able to make adjustments on the front. Put it this way, on an alignment rack if you make adjustments to the front toe/camber/caster first then adjust the rear the vehicle will not track straight ahead. If you mean there is no adjustment in the rear with a vehile that has a solid rear end you are 100% correct. When i had my leafs replaced under recall mine went on the rack after and it was off. Now if it was off before the recall is deff a possibility, but lifting rhe vehicle an inch (truck originally had 3 leaf pack now has a 4) will change the alignment.

I did not take off my add a leaf, I contacted the dealer explained the TSB was done 3 years ago and I would like to replace leaf for leaf (in my case 4 leafs). He wanted me to bring my truck down so he could look at it personally.

My 2010 is a bit of a unicorn in respect to my leaf springs, tech manager agreed to order a 4 leaf pack and gave me a loaner (2015 Tacoma ) for a week or so until my truck is fixed. Kudos to Inver Grove Toyota!

Dropped off the truck this morning and was given a loaded 2016 as a loaner. Gotta say, I don't hate it...

Told the service rep about my lift blocks and got zero push back. Worst case scenario is that I have to provide them with new extended u bolts if mine snap on removal.

I live in VA. I just got my letter a week or two ago. I called the local dealership and they are ordering the springs and expect them to be in next week. I'm not the world's most knowledge person when it comes to leaf springs, so will the 4 leaf (vs. the current factor 3 leaf) be stiffer or "more better" somehow?

You should not re-use u bolts. Get new ones to the dealer.

That post from Mad Man Marty prompts me want to ask a couple question heres.

My 2012 low Mileage (12K) Tacoma base will be carrying my new (to me) old Skamper slide in camper. I've purchased some helper springs/cushions to assist in the load. ( Timbren TORTUN4L Suspension Enhancement System )

    http://www.amazon.com/Timbren-TORTU...1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage

I've also ordered new nuts and washer for the u bolts (OEM). I did NOT purchase new u bolts as the oems are $20 ea ($80 set)

Should I replace the u bolts? they are only slightly rusted.
With OEM only?? (Are Aftermarket just as safe??)

If I swap my bump stops for these when the truck is on the ground with wheels chocked and ebrake on - should I get it re aligned ???

    Opinions always help .....

Personally, I would replace them even if they were slightly rusted and if I was gonna be working in that area anyways. Can't go wrong staying on the safe side.

If you get U bolts from one of the TW vendors you'll be good. Can't go wrong with OEM either. I can't speak to buying cheap ones from Amazon or eBay.

I received word from Toyota corp. that they are schedule to do the springs recall mod for the TEXAS area this month of May.
If anybody heard different please chime in. I moved a yard of topsoil this past weekend with no issues.

Still haven't gotten a letter saying recall is ready here. Curious as to when that'll happen.

For those who've had it done. How long did it take them to replace once parts where in. Is this a I can "sit and wait for it" type of thing? Or a 2 day thing?
Honestly I hate leaving my truck anywhere where I don't know what's going on with it.

I called my dealer before I got my remedy notice. They checked my VIN, saw my truck was included, and ordered the springs. A week or so later my truck went in for the new springs. One day job, no problem whatsoever.

Called the dealer in Roseburg, OR and they didnt want to help. Said they might be able to order parts in July or August and didnt have any inclination to even inspect the truck or look up the vin.
Called the dealer in Eugene, OR and they checked the vin then scheduled me to come in tomorrow morning at 0730 with my name on a set of parts.

Got my new springs. No real noticable difference in ride or height. But hopefully the payload will improve
