    I realize this is a joke, but as someone who's put in a few off-pavement miles in a Prius, the first mod is to disable the traction control. The slightest bit of wheelspin basically cuts power completely. But the underbelly is surprisingly offroad-friendly. Better protection than my TRD OR Tacoma, and it slides over rocks pretty well.

    We disable traction control everytime it is driven. Even on road.
