    *** Update***

Well, I had about 2 hours this evening before the Wife got home... No pics, cause its nothing to see.. I drained all the fluids yesterday, so today I filled everything up with fresh gear lube & oil. Put the new belts on, and dropped the mid pipe off with my buddy at the exhaust shop. He is welding it all up, since I have no Tacoma Cat, I am using a s-10 cat that I have been sitting on for about 5 years. My buddy gave it to me when he gutted his brand new (1,500 miles) chevy s-10 xtreme for a 427.

    Too few to list.
They don't make S-10's anymore. It's now the Colorado. The older S-10's barely had enough room to fit a small block. I do however liked the fact that Chevy finally put a 5.3 in them.

Like I said.. I have been sitting on it for a while. He purchased a S-10 Xtreme Brand new in 2002. Gutted it with 1,500 miles on it. 400 motown(sp?) block bored/stroked to a 427. It was a 427 ci small block. custom made headers to wrap around the steering shaft, and no inner fenders Curry Ford 9"... It was insane to drive... Insane...

Well, not much to show pics of this weekend... got a Lot of little things tied up, but nothing pretty. Found out the starter and alternator are both shot. Starter is froze up solid. alt isn't putting out any juice at all.

Painted the frame, got the torched rear bumper bolts out, and new bolts to hold the bumper on.

    Prepped and painted the grill.

    ***Update, again***

Well, I gave up for the day yesterday and retired to the couch to savor a Budweiser. About 15 minutes later my friend that has been helping me with a lot of the work called. So i got a second wind. he came over and for a couple hours.

We got the hubs the rest of the way together, and bleed out the brakes. Fresh fluid all the way through. We also started getting things ready to start the body work/paint. There is very little I plan to fix on the body. We pulled the door seals out, and the back window, and pulled the front fenders off. I know its a beater, but I wanna make it as nice as possible. I am planning to paint the bare cab, with everything off it. Then paint the doors separate from the truck, alone with the fenders. No making lines. :D Then I will paint the bed.

I took pics of where its at now, but I forgot my camera at home this morning. I will try to get them uploaded tonight and just edit this post with the pics. There was a cool trick we did on the doors that may come in handy for some of you that don't know about it.

Took the fenders back off to undercoat the back side. Since i plan to paint the bare cab (as not to have any masking lines) the fenders will be off until they are painted and dry.
    IMG_3786_13501ed049be7f0dcb08ca2a06d3f48ff401d163.jpg

Here is a lil trick. We got the doors lined up perfect so the seams match up, and they open and close like a new truck. We did this now, so we dot mar the paint trying to do it later. Next we drilled 1/16" holes through all the hinges into the cab. This will help line things back up once painted. Just get it close, and wiggle till the drill bit got back through the hole... Then tighten the bolts. :D

    IMG_3789_98b9a4bd4ada7642508bf228728b12716a8d2897.jpg

    Finished the passenger side hub.
    IMG_3790_0c9fb5f6a7cb39e75b3450b9585d1f539f1db286.jpg

At this point we realized its about time to start the body work. I am waiting on the starter and alternator to come in, so the mechanic part of the re-build is on hold.

So, we pulled the back window out and started getting things ready.

Last night was pretty productive. Got a solid 5 hours work in on it between my friend and I. Fixed a dent that was in the front top of the cab. Its not perfect, but keep in mind, I am not trying to make the truck a show truck. Got the doors most of the way prepped, and scuffed the door jams. another hour or so of work, and hanging some plastic and I should be ready to paint.

My friend Chris is far more experienced with body work than I so I let him do that part, and I sanded.

We also sanded down the front bumper... :D

I also flat blacked the Tacoma Emblems, and plan to put them back on later.

Oh yeah... here is another lil trick... Rather than having a making line around the windshield molding/trip... We ran some rope around it and tucked it into the seal... I will be able to paint right under the seal now, and once its dry, pull the rope out and the seal will lay back down with no making lines. :D

When I got home this evening, my wife helped me hang some plastic in the basement.

I took the doors off, and set them aside. I plan to pain the doors and fenders this weekend. I Wet sanded it down one last time, cleaned the surface with final wash and mixed the paint up. :D I have talked to a couple people that have painted things this way, so its the route I chose. It holds up to weathering and everything else pretty good.

I got a gallon of Rust-oleum, flat black. Mixed it 2:1:1 with lacquer thinner, and urethane hardener. and sprayed away.... :D
