Has anyone tried it? Is this entirely unreasonable? I have no idea if the pushpin holes line up (never looked close enough at a 3rd gen). I just think it might look cool, especially on the 2012-15s. I see things would get screwy on the bumper, but with an offroad/aftermarket bumper that wouldn't be a problem.

Should I be the first one to do it?

i would think you would need to do a whole front end conversion... you would need the 2016 head lights to fit the fenders.. then you would need the hood to fit the lights, grill ect..

OP, do you have access to a set of these to test out fitment (I'm assuming not) or would you have to order from your dealership and take your chances that way?

Well, I was biking the other day in an industrial area and saw a totaled MGM 2016 (my 2012 is mgm). I'm thinking I should just go ask the wrecker if I can have them. I'll report back in!

Those fenders won't line up with anything they mount next to. Hood, doors, lights, or bumper. Not without major body work.

I think this would look horrible if you didn't do the rear to match. It would look goofy with just the 16 front end. If you want it to look like a 3rd gen then buy one, otherwise this seems like a bad idea.

I agree, that would look bad. I would do both front and back. I love my 2nd gen, but I do like that 3rd gen look...

Needless to say, if they don't line up at all, I won't be doing it. I don't want to spend a lot of money. I'll see if that wrecked taco is still where I saw it, and ask if I can pry a fender off to investigate. I'll post my findings.

Its not going to line up at all, you would at the minimum need the entire front clip.

I'm bi-gen-ual...at least, I am honest about it.

They won't give me the fenders for free. I did take a closer look, though. It seems like others are correct here - they won't if neatly against the body of a 2nd gen. Back to the drawing board.
