Ya I'm actually an Electrician by trade so its fairly straight forward for me. Most of my work and knowledge is with residential and commercial buildings though. 12V automotive electrical is really a specialty of its own.

Ok That brings up a question. I'm in central Massachusetts and there are a number of campgrounds in the area .... However, with my new (to me) slide in small Skamper I'd also just like to go out away from everyone, find a side road and just pull over and pop the top up, make a small fire and just relax. In this area, years ago, the cops did not much care providing there is no party or trash/damage. But now, Cops stop and check everything and probably boot you off any public or private areas that you do not have permission to camp on...

So, what does everyone else do ?? As this area is not out west and real real boonies, what do others do in an area like New England ???

I pull rear seats bottoms out, fold seat backs down flat, push front pass seat forward, fill in behind it and sleep on mattress pad diagonal. Works great.

It was an honest answer. For me life is too short to live in a location where I do not have immediate access to areas where I can breakaway and camp in the way I'm accustomed to. Camping, exploring, and wheeling are an integral part of my family and friend's lives.

Well, having lived in CT for 3 years... upper st NY, NH, VT, Maine have areas to get a decent bit away from people, and they're not that far a drive (granted not the same State like we have, but by distance probably still similar)

for example (don't know if this place in Maine is a good place for camping but it's near a st park and mountains, and kinda isolated)
    https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Nor...bf8bd89e4cda63!2m2!1d-70.6427102!2d44.9656821

and this weekend's camping trip for me
    https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Sou...7918ad00f83d9!2m2!1d-105.5943276!2d37.7915959

granted I don't NEED to travel that far to camp... but my point is, I do, and in that same time/mileage range, there's plenty of camping for you. Hell on a long weekend, living where you do, I'd be hitting up the Cabbot Trail, or maybe even doing the Trans Labrador Highway.

Looks like most of the camping you guys do is out in the wild, but for the folks who camp in parks and such, I have a question.
It's not open for camping yet, but I drove through a park yesterday to check it out. The sign in the Primitive Camping area said, "Tent camping only." I have a topper shell on my truck and was planning on sleeping in the bed, so it wouldn't be a tent as such. Think that would be allowed? What are they trying to discourage by saying that only tent camping is allowed?

I think that would work. I believe by saying "tent camping only" they are excluding the RVs and towed campers.
Was the primitive camping area a drive to kinda place? I don't think I have ever seen that. I have hiked in to places that have signs like that, never driven to them.

Since everyone who tents has to park somewhere (back country camping aside), I'm sure it's fine. just don't drive into the area where the tents usually are.

    Thanks for replies, guys.

Yeah, the Primitive section is where you drive in to your campsite and pitch a tent next to your vehicle, but you don't have electricity and H2O. Makes sense that they posted the sign to disallow tow-behind campers and things. I laughed when I imagined a park ranger knocking on my back window at midnight and saying, "sorry sir, but you're gonna have to pitch a tent out here if you want to stay here."
