    Hey,

Long time Toyota guy, but first time Taco owner. Here in Dallas, TX. I've had a number of 4Runners going back to the mid 90s and up until about 4-5 years ago, had a few FJ62 LandCruisers. But, a few days ago, I picked up my first Taco. It's a pre-owned 2013 SR5 DCSB in Super White 4x4. Love it so far, but really haven't done much or even driven it too much.
Can't wait to put some trips in with this one. Will be working on where to carry bikes, camping, pulling my kayak trailer, etc. I'm sure I'll have questions down the road.

    later,

    m

Did you find anything for the bikes yet? (only one week after you joined I know :D)

I just started looking into this too.

    Hey Hanco,

For the bikes, I've got a hitch/receiver Thule rack that I've had for years. I can use it, but would like to have the bike(s) in the bed and then be able to pull my kayak trailer or whatever behind if needed. I know it's iffy to get bikes to fit in the short beds without removing the front wheel and/or leaving the tailgate down. But, that might be what I end up doing. There's also something from Yakima that rides over the bed of the truck. I forget the name, but it is something that I think fits in the rails on the side, allows you to put regular crossbars and then whichever bike rail you want to use and it floats on top of the bed. That seems cool if you were headed out camping/biking as you'd still have all the storage of the bed.
Otherwise, there are the one's that hold the front tire right behind the cab. But, that'd mean always having the tailgate down when carrying bikes. Or, for quick trips, Thule makes a cover that fits over the tailgate and you can sling the front wheel/forks over and they hang out the back. That works for a couple of bikes, but not sure that's for me.

I'll post up more details with pics/part numbers when I get there.

    Later,

    mike

Thanks that was really helpful - I had a browse around and in the end I'm going for a hitch mounted carrier - just looking for the best one for around $120 (looking at the 1* reviews first!)
That will keep the bed free. We also have a folding cover over it which I don't really like taking off/putting back on etc... We've got two bikes now, so one that carried up to 3 would be good for the space that gives.
    Appreciate your input :)
