Honestly, I ran the OEM air intake. I don't really see the point in running a CAI + Snorkel, but everyone has there preferences.

Another thing is that the CAI might not be as "cold" as most people think. An aftermarket CAI still sucks in Air from the same place the OEM one did. Sure it looks and sounds cooler, and I know there are some gains in HP (minimal) but I truly think that people will be satisfied with a Snorkel + OEM air intake.
It might look freakin' sweet if you ran an Airflow -> CAI -> Engine.

I asked @Shmellmopwho about his Snorkel statistics a while back and I believe he said it improved his mpg's.

Yeah I experienced better gas mileage but not like crazy gains. We are just putting colder, denser air into the engine which gives it more oxygen to breathe. Where I live there is a lot of smog which sucks.

I think Shmellmopwho has a Ultra Guage

Enough to make it a lot of fun!
I have an ultra gauge as well. I will be interested to see what happens with my mpg. I saw a +1 mpg when I put the intake in.

I'm going to be plumbing my snorkel into a CAI. I'm using the AFE (TRD) CAI so I'll see how well it works all together. I would like to think doing it this way would be even better than using the stock intake only for the simple reason the added airflow from the snorkel won't have a bunch of bends or anything to go through. It will just go straight to the throttle body. But then again it might be way too much air being pushed in and I might have problems. I'll just have to see.

I don't think we will have any issues with too much air flow. Yours I think will be easier then mine. I will have to box my filter and make pipe to go between the snorkel and intake.

Yeah mine shouldn't be bad. I'm hoping that the elbow the snorkel comes with will pretty much just connect to the box of the AFE but we will see. If not I'm sure I can find one that will.

One big thing I noticed when I installed my snorkel is that the intake temperature on my Ultragauge went down quite a few degrees which proves that it's bringing in more air and cooler air. I love my snorkel. Anyone who buys one of these will love it as well

You might benefit from looking into the K&N apollo. This is what I was going to do with the donaldson inline filter but I would have to make my own cover.

Thanks. I will have to do some more research on it. That would be probably be a lot easier then my boxing plan. Hopefully it is just the case and not a whole new intake.

I am not sure. I found it while researching...probably the full intake  since you can never find just "parts" of these things.

You can go the volant/donaldson inline route like myself. These powercore filters are pretty interesting. They are suppose to filter 99.97% of dust particles...which is basically where the stock filter is at. They are pricey tough. K&N are between 96-99% depending on the filter (from their site). Quite a few of the bigger trucks have these as stock filters.

I haven't got to use one yet (the mechanic is driving my truck with it right now) but after a bunch of research, pretty sure power core is the best you can get aftermarket wise. Similar to the stock intake for filter efficiency but can breathe better.
