so as it comes out the box, one side is 10:1, the other side is 1:1, the red cap on my glue had some black resin leaked out so perhaps there was some dried in the tip even though I removed what I could grab of the dried stuff before beginning....the black side was on the smaller plunger and it busted through the back. Since it is possible the leakage caused blockage and therefore too much pressure was required to depress the adhesive from the back side it would force the plunger through the back, I've ordered a replacement.

I'll use the 1.5 / 1 collar on the smaller plunger this side it makes the left and right plunger 90% closer to a match in size.

Simple explanation Toyota does not have a company standard in place for fixing these sorts of issues

Well lucky for me, their fix when I complained was to give me a new hood.

Wow. How many adhesion points were broken? The dealership fixed mine last week. I haven't looked at it or taken in out on the road yet.

I didn't read through every new page, but what are most dealers doing for this issue? My dealer had no idea about the problem and I noticed it from day 1, googled it, found this thread, and am just now getting them to do something about it. According to them they are going to take it for a couple days and have a body shop "fix" it this week.

After 50 miles driving after fixed, mine's vibrating on the drivers side now. At least the right side is still fixed.

Mine is still broken. Nothing from Toyota or dealership.

    Vibration is bad.

Mine were broken on the center two posts toward the cab. Still haven't checked the fix out. Hope it doesn't come back after 50 miles. Mine was in for a full day and done by the body shop. Had it in for its 5,000 mile check and mentioned it. No questions asked, they just had me drop it off another day.

1:1 is not possible with the plungers supplied with the gun, I did 1.5:1 and 1:1 with the new tube, and it worked without an issue, checked this morning and it's cured and rigid. There's no way this is going to be flexing while I drive anymore.

I would add a few things to the helpful hints, drape the engine bay in towels that you don't mind throwing away. Anytime a little too much comes out it'll drop right down onto the engine so the towels will catch it. Have a LOT of shop rags handy and wear gloves. I put the adhesive on a long run, then used my finger to smooth it out, and the rags to wipe off the excess. I couldn't get all the excess but it looks damn good. Being a dark blue hood with black adhesive, you can't really see it.

@Tacoma_Jake has a much better solution that the body shop will do, he thought outside the box and actually ran the glue along the length of the opening instead of just a few contact points, this is why this solution will out-do anything a dealer's body shop is going to do. Mine was at the dealer for 3 attempted repairs, in each case, they cut out the adhesive on the contact points, replaced it, then that failed, or cured and reduced in size causing a dent in the hood. All they had to do was think about it, run a long bead of adhesive, and you're set.

There were a few. However, I also provided some detail (and contact info) regarding a situation in the midwest where the customer ended up with a new hood. Gave them the service managers name and phone of that dealer out there. So, I established a precedent

My goal is to get a new hood and ask for a sport hood instead hehehe

My dealer said they can't do anything until Toyota releases a fix.

I have noticed this issue on mine. I checked yesterday and sure enough the adhesive is separated. I dropped it off at the dealer today to get the transmission fluid checked. Also mentioned this. I've had it for less than a month. 8cce58410d4b686162fe0de957cd4413_09b35a6168adacb1b2e626bba3b38c2390ad03a1.jpgdb3e3a4bd98abd6e59a7ae5fad5fc11d_d8f2f14b87480a53af15dc1bb64213d6ca4afff7.jpg9fd64227ee937e76aeb0b8d1596c65cd_31831639140d4a17d64ba5109f3f658f603fb831.jpg

i'm leaving my truck at the dealership overnight for them to do the ATF check. they drove it and didn't see the hood fluttering. they claim that the adhesive is only to eliminate vibrations....which technically could be true, but when it's not attached and the hood is vibrating, it's not really doing its job.

Agreed! I'm worried of paint cracking etc.
