Utility sink threaded for a hose for the vehicles and I pumped water from the creek for watering. I'll prolly still use crick water in the garden lol.

Gotta replace the pipe headed the outside spigot in the back yard. Those "never freeze" spigots do indeed freeze. Last time I decide to risk is and leave it open for the winter.

May just cut the copper after the shutoff and replace it with those shark bite valves and pex pipe to a new spigot. I do not want to be sweating copper and such right now. My father has one of the pex fitting crimper tools so I can borrow that.

They freeze if you leave a hose attached

Lots of people make that mistake , its the common cause for freezing in a frost free hose bib . How the frost free bibs work is that the shut off for the water is actually at the very inner end of the stem which puts the liquid water as far back into the insulated wall as possible , but that relies on the rest of the spigot being able to drain when you shut it off so that there is no water in the exterior portion of the hose bib , that can't happen with a hose attached

you think cutting the copper after the shutoff then using pex to the new spigot is a decent way of going about it? Or would it be better to just replace the cracked copper with new copper?

Either pipe is fine , I would likely replace the hose bib at the same time

Has anyone ever put epoxy paint where linoleum was? How clean does the concrete need to be before being etched besides the typical sweep and vaccum? In other words how anal do I need to be removing residue/glue etc?

The longer the frost-free valve is, the better of a chance you'll have for it not to freeze. If you use Pex, you'll still have to solder on the appropriate fittings on each side to accept the Pex.

I have the fittings and the 1/2", 3/4" crimper if you need to use them if you go with Pex. I'd just go with copper anyway since you still have to solder.

BTW, I met you before when I bought your motorcycle lift a couple of years ago... works great too, thank you again. :)

Thanks for the input! I cut the pipe right after the shutoff and ran a new copper line (had a little left over from a bathroom remodel) and installed a new spigot/hose bib. So far all is well....

Also built some new shelves for a closet. Simple set up of 1x4 pine strips as a perimeter support for a 1x12 pine board. Nothing fancy, but can finally stop stacking things and put things in a home. Prepping for a baby means catching up on all sorts of small projects I keep saying "next weekend I'll do it".

And glad the lift is still in use! I do remember you....how is the truck running?

New work bench for the garage. Top is doubled up 3/4 MDF with a sheet of 3/16 hard board on top. Will get drawers next weekend.

Just closed and moved into our house Friday. Already done following things:

    -Furnace filter
    - 5 each fire & Carbon alarms (none before)
-Adjusted upstairs tub drain to actually close and open
-Freed stuck valve for shower/bath head
-New flapper in upstairs toilet since the old one's chain was broken
-Replaced Mirror light switch cover that was cracked
-Last but not least, my wife and I broke in the master shower ;)

Looking forward to a lot more improvements!

So I chipped part of the tile entry while taking laundry machines down via hand truck, will get better pics tomorrow.

What would be the best fix?

If you have extra from when it was installed or can get it still, chip the tiles up and replace them.

I love it when you talk dirty.

Bleach will kill it, but bleach is highly corrosive and too much dead organic matter = fungus = more mold

I was going to ask and now I know. Interesting; might have to do this to the house.

    More dirty talk.

I finished the fourth coat of tung oil on my library floor -- I had painted it last weekend.

I also picked up some used scaffolding off craigslist (in my Tacoma catching a nice rainbow pic on the way there) in preparation for restaining the coffered ceiling in my living room.

My username is the same here as on Houzz if anyone wants to see the rest of my progress on my house. image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg
