I like my XR100 don't get me wrong, but those LEER models with the side windows you can lift open that are "mid rise" are awesome looking. Not worth trading at this point, but maybe someday....

Really? Hmmm interesting. Wouldn't solve the mid-rise thing, but may be a good alternative someday...

Yep, wish I'd gotten the windoors and drop down front slider. I also wish I'd gotten the taller shell instead of the cab high; cab high looks cleaner and it's easier to load my racks but the extra headroom would be nice for camping (I camp out of mine a lot).

If I had any skills I'd love to buy an ARE DCU and convert it to a pop-up like this guy did. http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/137366-Tacoma-aluminum-Pop-up

I like my 180 but from some directions it looks (special) on a shortbed. The roof rack helps smooth out the look. Some day I'll add a cargo basket to the front. If I could redo it I'd get side lift Windows reinforced cap and carpet lining. Just couldn't past up a new color matched shell for 1k

I do love my Leer but when I bought it, it was a steal so I brought it quickly. It has a toolbox on the drivers side and a window on the passenger side. If I were to do it again I would get one without the tool box or at least put it on the passenger side because it adds to an already major taco lean.

Weathertech floor liners moded to hold OEM floor mats, weathertech vent visors, Toyota bed mat, LEER 100XL cap, hood gasket mod to stop whistling.
I bought a tonneu then took it off and sold it 3 months later for a LEER 100R and never looked back. I did however install the drop down front window about 4 years later. I let that cap go with my 5' truck and bought a 100XL for my 6' truck.

4 must haves..... 1. fold down front window 2. OEM rubber bed mat. As soon as you put a cap on it, your road noise will increase. The bed mat helps eliminate some of that plus makes the cargo stay put. 3. A protective strip across your tailgate where the rubber cap door strips hits. If you don't do this, the cap door will wear right down through the paint. After it rubbed through on my first Tacoma, I now remove the tailgate to cap, put a strip of 2" heavy black rubber tape across where it hits, the reinstall the tailgate cap. 4. A cheap cargo bar. Climbing over that plastic piece inside the tailgate or even the bare bed floor is a killer on the knees.

Got an ARE V-series last year after researching quite a bit. Got everything I wanted as extras (vented windoors, fold down slider, interior LEDs, Yakima tracks).
If I were to get another one, I would entertain the idea of getting a mid-rise one and maybe a headliner, but I am not unhappy with the one I got.
