Is it normal when your CVT is open for the floor on the side with the ladder on it to be at a very slight incline? Like it sorta slopes upward

Yeah, if it bothers you just sleep with your head on the ladder side, flatten it out a bit. Also might want to shorten your ladder up so the angle is more vertical, like that puts a lot of stress on the mounts when you are climbing in.

Okay sweet thanks for letting me know, and yeah that was when I first got it a few days ago, I drilled some holes into it yesterday to lessen the angle, now its more near a 90 degree angle. Now to get my anti condensation mat permanently installed into it

First time taking the RTT out. We didn't go anywhere extreme since my wife is still getting into this "camping" thing. She enjoyed it as did the dogs.

Been going through this thread and I either missed it or it's not there, what do people do with this sort of tent if they want to drive places but not have to close up camp every time? I am really interested in adding one of these to my truck but want to be able to leave it at my campsite. Is that something that is easy to do, maybe lift it off or?

I should have said a trailer isn't really an option, a big decision in getting my Tacoma was because I had nowhere to keep a trailer and a vehicle that could tow one. I do dig the trailer set ups though. The idea of a RTT may not work for me in most cases and my idea of winter camping off the ground, among other things, may just not be a reality.

Not a lot of options. You could remove a bed rack and set it on the ground...making it a really expensive heavy ground tent. I think CVT had some weird spider looking things at some point. Basically legs that attached to the tent and lifted it slightly so you could drive the truck away. Also a lot of work.

This is why I sold my RTT. The trailer is the best option in this particular case.

It's only a few minutes to fold up, but yeah it's a drawback when you want a base camp type of setup. A trailer is a common solution. CVT makes some sort of framework thing that might work for you.

Daily set up/tear down is the biggest drawback of RTT's. For me it's not an issue as I generally only stay one night in any particular spot. The @Cascadia Tents "Apollo moon lander" frame is about the only option I know of aside from a trailer you've got.

Go with what you want. Worst case is you have to make some plates with some metal from HD. If you don't get an answer. Maybe go with 1.5 on the cross bars just to be safe.

Down the line I would recommend making your own rounded plates to fit your bars better.
