Having bad shaking while braking. Had brakes done about 15,000 miles ago and they still have lots of room on the pads left. I was chalking it up to a warped rotor? What do you guys think?

That's usually the case if the wheel only shakes while under braking.

    I vote bad rotors too.

If you have people do your brakes for you, always check the rotors with the pads. You'll end up double paying for labor to have them changed at separate points.
If you are mechanically inclined, you can change them out yourself for minimal cost.

Replace rotors. For me it costs less than turning them

Who did the brake job? What brand of rotors were used?

    Most likely warped rotors,
You can do backlash check to verify. Before that, tighten all lug nuts to equal torque and do the braking tests to het up rotors, see if they straighten up a little.

Well I was super busy with work and just swung through les shcwab. Bad mistake I think they used cheap ass rotors. Thanks for all the responses I was starting to think it could be something else. Anyone have any suggestions on high quality rotors?

I get shaking under braking at highway speeds infrequently and intermittently. When it happens, brakes are not hot and the condition always goes away within a few miles
    - very strange, if its a rotor issue, they must be un-warping themselves.... I have yet to figure this one out. Since it happened last, I have lifted and re-aligned the front end -we'll see if the mystery shake continues

Oh no! Schwab replaces your calipers with their own rebuilt ones whether you want them or not. I had a Swab job once on a car I was going to sell, and had a caliper seize within a couple hundred miles.

Spec Miata racers use NAPA house brand, which are actually made by Bembro. They see a lot of abuse in a short time.

Aftermarket rotors cost $50-60 and OEM rotors cost $80 at dealer list price without a discount. $20 extra per rotor is worth it in my opinion because I've never had any problems with OEM Toyota rotors and pads.

Yeah but that's just the Miata rotors. NAPA house brand rotors for the Tacoma may be made by someone else.
