Actually they turn em' pretty quick. 8 Tacos sold just that day. I live in a rural area and trucks are high volume here.

I tried using this as leverage but them seem to be content with having people go elsewhere

While the upcoming TRD Pro Tacoma has peaked my interest I still wonder if it isn't worth biting the bullet on a 2017 Ford Raptor. I know we are comparing apples to oranges, but if I am going from two trucks down to one, why not make it the baddest ass thing out there?

If you're good with dropping 50 grand on a truck. That's just crazy money

I put in an order for one on Monday 4/4/16. the sheet that the dealer gave me has the date that I ordered. When should I get the order date? I apologize for hijacking the thread. Dealer also said it will take between 6 and 8 weeks.

Verify with your dealer that Toyota accepted the order. typically they will already have a truck in their allocation that is due to them. In my case they already had a sport long bed double cab 4x4 in their allocation. The dealer put in to have the truck changed to the color that I wanted and to add the technology package. Once Toyota accepted the changes they were provided with an estimated build date. As it got closer to the estimated build date the dealer was given an actual build date. I have been checking in with the dealer weekly just to see if the build date has changed since from what I have seen on here Toyota will sometimes adjust the build date. I can't say for your specific situation but at least you can go back to your dealer and sound like you know what the process is and push a little on them for answers.

Not a single truck to be sold at my dealership. About 10-12 at the dealership 15 miles south.

surprised no one has mentioned but there was a major fire that destroyed a steel factory that supplies much of Toyota's parts. read about it back in January when I ordered my Tacoma. just got mine 2 weeks ago.

This was for Japan production though, right? Would it have even affected any North American production?

I am sure that some of the parts are sourced from Japan but it seems more likely that they would just limit the production in order to keep the demand high. This would allow them to sell less units at a higher price. This is the opposite of what Chevrolet does. Build as many as you can with the chance that they will sell at any price. The model that Toyota is taking keeps the overall value of the vehicle up instead of cutting the long term value of their vehicles. Just my two cents
