    Ive got quite a bit of rust forming on my rear bumper. Whats the best way to take care of/fix this?

    Will something like the rustoleum rust reformer work?

    Is that powdercoat or paint?

    Take grinding wheel to the parts you can reach and hand sand everywhere else. It looks like mostly surface rust. Then spray the exposed metal with a good primer before reapplying paint.

    OME lift, 265/75s, pickup shell, couple of dents.
    Grinding wheel might be a bit extreme, a wire wheel or a palm sander would do the trick and not eat into the metal. But otherwise: Yeah, what he said. You have to get it down to bare metal before you do anything else, otherwise the paint is just going to flake off and it will start rusting all over again.

    Is it better to spray Bedliner directly on metal without a primer? How about plastic?

    You can spray monstaliner on plastic, but you have to apply bulldog adhesion promoter fist. I put some on my fuse panel cover in the cab just to see what it looks/feels like and if it would stay. Its stayed so far

    I always use primer first on bare metal, regardless of what finish paint you use. Primer acts as a rust barrier.

    The exception to this is powdercoat. A proper powdercoat job, meaning proper prep of the metal surface, also prevents rust like above.

    They went from 79-85. 84-85 are the better ones to start with since they came with a full truss along the bottom
