OBA -> On Board Air Mega Thread & BS

I honestly don't remember the total cost. The compressor was $515ish, I think the tanks was like 40 and 30$ for the Viair kit. Plus the plumbing.

 

Anyone give me a tip on how to mount the chuck to a plate bumper? I am out of thread on my fittings

 

Also having trouble with this. Used a adapter with more thread and it leaked....without it I didn't have enough thread lol

I tried going through 1/4" plate...would work with 1/8" easy

 

My chucks look a little different I think. THey have a male end with about 3/4" of thread showing, I ordered some thin lock nuts to see if I can get them mounted and not have them leaks. We will see next week lol

 

I used female quick disconnects with male barb going through the plate

 

My first test of my oba blew the air hose right by the conpressor lol. Got too hot

 

Gotta have that leader to let it cool. But that means no leaks right??!!

 

I just got the loctite so gonna try that soon! I had it close enough to where j could use it.

I have thick red 300 psi hose I was gonna replace it with... Think that would be ok?

 

If you're connecting it to a barb any of it will stretch and come off. Best bet is high temp or steel braided.

 

I have probably 4 feet from the conpressor to the manifold. The hose may be high heat I don't remember. I used barb with tight hose clamps

 

I used a bulkhead fitting for my quick connect on my bumper. Found one with female 1/4 NPT threads, and a PTC 3/8" for my air hose. You should be able to find a bulkhead fitting for whatever you're using.

I've seen people just thread their connects together right though a piece of metal, but I don't see how that could work without leaking, or without the fitting being loose.

 

It worked for one of mine. Used washers

 

Any suggestions on a hose for a 15 lb tank?

 

My AC system has a phantom leak the shops can't find it which I assume means the evaporator behind the dash... So I'm looking at using the stock AC comoressor with oiler before and filter after. Anyone have a link for this being done on 2nd gen? I see lots of threads but it sounds like they're adding a comoressor not reusing the stock one on the 4.0 v6.

He used a york though. It's tough to tell did he mount in place of stock conpressor?

I've been working on installing my portable compressor as a permanent OBA setup, and made some more progress today. Got everything mounted, now just need to plumb the lockers and wire it up! I ran a stainless steel hose from the compressor, through the wall of the plastic compartment into the other side, to the tank. The manifold is plumbed directly from the tank. I need to re-wire the harness a bit, because the portable compressor's wiring is a bit different (pressure switch and relay are inside the compressor housing). Should get the wiring done tomorrow, and plumbing done by this weekend, looking forward to testing out these lockers!
