When the green AND white/black wire is connected it blows the fuse. so I don't know if they would get brighter. From my understanding the Squadron Pros are only a single brightness, the Squadron XLs are dim-able.

I'm also talking to BD in PM I'll inform you all what they say as well with getting this resolved. First thing they asked is if I tested the lights off the battery. Thanks @colinb17 for getting me to try that out I was able to speed up the trouble shooting just waiting on their reply. I asked about the housing acting as a ground.

.... Bad lights was what I thought at first..... But in no way am I an expert of any kind.... Shit I'm probably little worse off than Forrest Gump. But if you call them they should have somebody who could tell you more about your situation and if not I'd say exchange the lights worst case there is your in the same boat your in now and both lights worked fine....but then you gotta say "I don't know what the fuck I'm doin" I hope it don't come to that..... Vehicle electronics are very tricky

Asked them if only running the positive will damage anything, and if their warranty will still honor that type of install.

    I bounce it offa stuff.
Take it out of the bumper and see if it works. Sounds like the ground side of the lights is shorted into the chassis. You can put a meter lead on the negative wire and one on an unpainted part of the light housing and see if you have continuity. If that's the case, its grounding thru the light chassis to the frame of the truck. With out the ground wire, there should be no current flow, and therefore no illumination. So the only logical possibility is its grounded to the chassis of the light, be it by design or not.

Yup that's what's going on im going to seal up the connector with some silicon and put some liquid electrical tape on the unused wires so it's all sealed up and run only the positive wire and let it keep grounding to the bumper if they go up lifetime warranty is still good.

I think they need to be adjusted a little.

I'm going to look at a 2000 4runner tomorrow if I buy that I'll take another look at my Tacoma and if the body isn't terrible I will think about the trail rig option.

How many miles on the runner? Any maintenance receipts with it? I always ask for maintenance records when i buy a vehicle.
