Norcal Spotted and BS Thread

Doing an HC bumper install with some help from TW locals at Sacramento Mod Day tomorrow. For those who have done it, and since I'll be far from home, does this list look complete?

• Wrenches & sockets, full bag of tools
• Blue masking tape & Sharpie
• Straight edge & 90 degree angle
• Angle grinder with thin cut- off blade
• Measuring tape
• Change of underwear

Anything else? Seems pretty straightforward- just a little scary. I'm bringing jack stands, scrap wood, and there will be a few floor jacks there.

 

Haven't done it but that list looks pretty complete other than eye protection. I would personally use a full face shield.

 

yeah I agree I cut my cornea once and never forget eye protection now

I agree eyes are important. I'm sure we will have plenty of muscle so you should be fine.I use my clear riding gogles a few times they worked good.

 

10-4. Glasses are in the tool bag. I tried to tell my 6 year old the importance of eye protection. Told her to cover one eye, then held up a stuffed animal to the side of her. Told her to uncover the eye and she was startled by the animal close to her head. "Did you see the animal? That's what it would be like with one eye. That could have been a wild jackal about to attack".

Now she's afraid of jackals, but I think she got the lesson.

 

I did my HC bumper at the last mod day, I would also recommend removing fenders and rear bumper the night before to safe time.

 

Lesson well taught. She'll prob remember that one forever. I might have to use it one day

 

She and our 3 year old were sword fighting with kebob sticks. After the "lesson", she threw it away. Mission accomplished...for now.
