I saw these and was wondering if anyone bought them and installed a good Amazon HID bulb into it? Seems like the cheapest and most convenient way to do the BHLM mod, and HID retrofit. Just wondering when it says H1 bulbs included for projector beam, I'm assuming they are for H1 halogens? But what about high and low beam? So could you just stick in H4 bi-xenon bulbs in it? I do wonder about the quality of the headlight assembly but at this price might as well see how well they are sealed and reseal them later.

If it is designed for H1s then it will not take H4s. There will be no high beam if they are actually H1s.

A pair of good projectors alone start at about $250. There is no way they can sell the housing and the projectors for HIDs for under $200. They're using crappy halogen projectors, and you'll get even worse light sticking HIDs in them. However, they should be relatively simple to mod to use HID projectors. Just buy a kit from TRS.

$250 for a good set of projectors consumer retail, manufactures get cheaper prices, which makes their price point plausible. I see this as being a step up from HIDs in stock reflector housings. These should have a cutoff which won't blind traffic. Be the guinea pig and test them out.

Was just looking at doing the same thing but getting a projector/hid kit from retrofitsource.com that is specific for spec d headlights. Have you looked into this any further?

Do you know how ridiculous you sound?

What sounds more plausible, a $250 HID projector set, plus housing materials, plus bulbs, plus assembly for $185, or a $50 halogen projector set plus the rest for $185? It's not even remotely plausible, especially since aftermarket headlight housings do not have the benefit of large volumes. They have very low volumes, and have to make it up with larger margins.

The cutoff might not blind traffic, but the shape of the output would be less than usable. Plus, even with a cutoff shield, there will be some glare leakage with HIDs in halogen projectors. My brother put HIDs in his Crossfire's stock projectors, it has noticeable glare. Not excessive glare like reflectors, but still noticeable.

The spec d kit has not yet been updated to the new Mini H1 7.0s, which are significantly improved from the 6.0s. I have a pair of Spec D Mercedes E320 headlights I'm about to retrofit with the 7.0s, still waiting for those which are on backorder. Honestly speaking, if you're not handy enough to make your own custom mount for the projectors, you shouldn't be doing your own retrofit.

Typically prefabbed headlights like that use halogen bulbs, ive never used them, but im sure your could put an HID bulb in it and get the necessary conversion plug to run them without doing an actual retrofit (again ive never put HIDS in a halogen wiring harness so im not 100% sure on that, im just going based off of what I have seen other folks do) it will probably work well enough and will be a definite step up from HIDs in your stock housing. Obviously the plan you have wouldn't be as good as a full HID retrofit, but if you're looking to save money, then you can give it a try. Let us know how it goes!

so I bought these ... not bad ... so far. I haven't tried to put in HIDs yet, although I am do want to. The Highbeam sucks imo. They look cool though :D :(

what do you mean by the cut off. I think I have to realign them cause they look like they are pointing downward too much. Also on my driverside it looks lower cause there is this odd "step" shape within the light beam. I was fiddling with the plugs today making sure the wires weren't stretched too much, the plug prongs are flimsy. Top mounting areas feel like they will break, well one side does. As for the rest... eh I'm giving it a couple till the major headaches come in.

found this for the HID's ... not really sure if this will work but ...
    http://store.ijdmtoy.com/HID-Conversion-Kit-Relay-Harness-Installation-DIY-Guide-a/184.htm

Searched around this site and found these to replace the POS ones that came with the lenses.
    https://www.theretrofitsource.com/morimoto-xb35-h1-bulbs.html?preselect=50558#.Vxw-1_mDFBd

... have to do more research, but I mean ... I can probably hack up my old HID's if I need to so I can install new H1's (for testing or what have you).

    /facepalm

We've already told you how to do it right the first time. If you want to go down this hack path, go ahead, but I guarantee you you are not going to get good results. You will either 1. get poor lighting, or 2. blind every driver out there on the road. If you go with 2, I hope bad things happen to your truck.
