I would guess that it's how they identify if the leafs have been replaced, and not the actual fix. It says in the instructions that the pack needs to be replaced if it doesn't meet the criteria. Otherwise it would say to "add clips".

I had my frame replaced, and got the updated leafs. Mine have the 6 clips. The two in the center look more like guides than clips, as they are open on the top like the picture shows.

I wouldn't think this would pertain to 2015's at all. Does the letter or whatever the paper says, state any years for this fix?

I think counting the number of clips just tells the tech which set it is. A set that needs to be replaced under TSB or a set that has already been replaced or was never the shitty set to begin with.

On a side note, this thread got me looking at my leafs, and noticed this:

Anyone know what this (thin piece of sheet metal) is, and if it's supposed to be there?

It's between the second, and third leafs from the top, and I'm not digging how it's sliding out, close to the brake line.

    Supposed to be there.

I'd put it in all the way.

    All the recall says is:

If you have three clips the entire leaf pack is replaced.

If you have four clips, the leaf pack is not replaced.

They are not adding clips to the existing leaf pack.

I doubt it's sheet metal, it's more likely that it's a nylon anti friction sheet that they put between the leafs so they don't squeak and thats not a brake line, it's a parking brake cable.

Cuz I disassembled my OEM leaf pack and I know what those plates are made of.

They're sheet metal. Not nylon. Haven't seen much nylon look like galvanized steel before..

Sure, but the one pictured and the one that he was told wasn't sheet metal, is sheet metal.

I'm guessing by "clips" Toyota offers some knock down clamps

Well my springs only have 3 clips. I have an appointment at 9:30 in the morning for the inspection. They told me the process was to inspect and if the springs are to be replaced they would order the parts then. Which sucks because a I have a new set on OME leafs waiting to go on after the recall. I will let everyone know what the verdict is.
