Probably not enough though I'm guessing. Really hoping it's not leaking from there and it was just a kink in the door rubber seal or something stupid like that.

 

Any body in new england have a Rancho Lift? It can be had for about 900 and includes UCA's. I like the fact that the stiffness can be adjusted. Thinking about this but also Biltein 6112's and 5160's which will end up running around 2k with all the other parts I intend to get (Camburg UCA, OME Dakars, etc)

With truck problems some days we have questions some days we get answers and some days we have to scratch our heads and go WTF?
I have had emissions problems with this truck since 09 its a (2002.) The 02 sensors seem to crap out every couple of years and the gaskets even sooner. After needing to do a bit of exhaust maintence every year eventually the cat started to get tired and my CEL would go on during certain times of the year. When I put the doubler in this fall I removed the second cat from gasket to gasket as holes were beginning to rust in the pipe to repair it. I ended up making the exhaust "high clearance" when I did the flat belly and when I started the truck I got a CEL. Turns out having that pipe out for awhile probably let moisture in or all the work I did bumped them and I ruined both 02 sensors. Well I couldn't seem to shake the code and didn't replace the rear sensor yet which I know went bad after testing it. Driving today and the light goes off, pull in check the codes, nothing pending all tests run. So I pull in and pass inspection for the last time this truck needs to do emissions. So apparently known bad cat/broken rear sensor = good.

But next year my truck will be old enough I don't need to worry about a CEL, so I can finally be done with this nonsense.

 

I had read on here a few (three I think) guys that had them and replaced them due to a very stiff ride. Other than that, no experience with them.

If there's a bolt above the pillar, I think you've found the culprit... pull the bolt, goop it up and send it back in.

 

I definitely remember reading about adding sealant to the bolts because of leaking.

 

I might have missed it then. I read the instructions quite a few times, since I installed the rack and then took it off and re-installed it because of a few bolts stripping, and don't remember anything about that on there.

 

I definitely didn't read it in the instructions cause I never bought it. I'm pretty sure it was somewhere on the forum. People having the same issue as you.

 

Might have been. Can't say I've seen it but definitely makes sense to do that though. Lesson learned for sure.

 

Removing the screws removed the sealant that is applied to them. I'd take them out again one by one (assuming you didn't pull the screws out of the bracket in the front) and apply a bit of silicone caulk to the threads and reinstall. It doesn't need a lot, just enough to coat the threads.

Yeah... to be honest, not too fond of the idea of removing the front screws from the brackets. Those two were an f'ing pain in the ass because of the bracket thing. Was thinking about removing the middle and back screws and adding some of these stuff that Unchained had recommended a while back to help seal the "gap" in the front of the roof rack because of the brackets:

I'd drag out the hose and strategically run water only on the front to see if there are any leaks. You'd probably want to remove the drivers and passengers kick panel inside to verify if you happen to be anal like me. The 6 rear screws are easy to get to on the rack, pull them and seal at a minimum. The stuff you have should be fine.

 

That's not necessary. I'm sure it works and works fine but it's not necessary. I bought my roof rack used and I just did like @vssman said and used a regular clear silicone that I already had around the house. I put a dot of silicone in the hole where the screw goes into and made sure to cover the threads to the screws. I haven't had a leak yet.
