This may be controversial, but I keep seeing arguments that the diff drop for 2nd gens isn't necessary. The free shipping on UCAs from low range seems appealing.

From everything I have read the 2nd Gen diff drop only rotates the diff it doesn't actually drop the diff.

Yea low range is what i was looking at... theres a group buy for them now that is at 5% discount with 5 ppl on the list i think

i can only speak from photos i have seen but if you just look at the angle of the cvs from the front before and after a diff drop, i think it helps a lot... i don't think it is necessary either tho but i will probably do it anyway

I have zero plans on doing it since a cv axle only Costs about 80 bucks tops compared to what Differential will cost if you damage it. I've seen a few pics and it might be maybe 2-3 degrees if that.

I've also read numerous threads where people removed it simply because it didn't help. But I've read where really people say it does. I'll take the risk to not lower and endanger my front diff.

@Low Range Off-Road It'd be pretty cool if vendors started throwing in a couple patches of inner tube style rubber when they sell a set of Dakars with the instructions of the Squeaky Leaf fix or the url of that thread. It wouldn't take much effort or material but it would really be going the extra mile and show you know the qualities and quirks of the products. I did that to my Dakars before I installed them. It's almost a year later and still no squeaks. Not that you owe any of these money-saving bastards anything. Just a thought that popped into my head.

I wouldn't run them... Total chaos is really the only trued and true brand other than ICON that id go with...

Don't get Light racing... Ill see if we can get the picture of them literally snapped at the weld from one of the NJ guys... And it happened while he was driving...

Thats what a skid plate is for if you are worried about "endangering" your diff...
