Yokohama Geolander A/T G015

Looks like they made a new Geolander should anyone care. I think they look good. 265/75r16 are 41lbs.

Looks like a great pavement tire

 

I was thinking the same thing. It looked like an HT instead of AT.

 

Toyota says 50% of its buyers go off road.. the rest are going to need something for the pavement pounding commute. They're severe weather rated, but certainly not a mud tire.

 

They don't look like any kind of improvement over the OEM tire

 

On there website the LT rated tire has the same design but looks a little more rugged. I personally don't find the traction from all seasons, like the ones that come on the SR and SR5 models very good in the winter. I would prefer to run an a/t tire year round with the severe weather rating and looks a little meatier than all season slicks. That pushes me in the direction of atw tires that come in 265/75 and are C rated for the weight savings. The better ones that I've seen for my situation are the Cooper atw's, Falken a/t3w, and now these. It's certainly not going to appeal to 3 inch icon lifted mini trucks, but for people like me who drive 60 miles a day in all weather conditions and spend 25% of my time on washboard dirt roads, they are certainly an option.

 

That's about 8 lbs lighter than their A/T-S. Should help with fuel economy.

 

I'm actually quite surprised Yokohama put "A/T" on the sidewall. Maybe the same reason all the automakers went to lifted cars know as "SUV's"..

Anyway for the few true A/Ts left on the market that can still deliver some off-road capability and durability when occasionally needed:

BFG KO2 is severe snow rated but not offered in 265/75R16, only LT265/75R16 LRE.

Falken Wildpeak A/T3W 265/75R16 is 43.9lbs, severe snow rated, looks like an A/T tire

Tested internally the Cooper ATW mentioned is definitely good for snow and earns the severe rating but weak in a few other performances such as tread wear.

I'm hoping to get a set of these G015 once i get approval for these. I didn't make the falken spring training event they have, but I had some people that I knew that went and was very impress with the new AT3W. I'm surprise there is a falken employee with a tacoma. I thought you guys were all Jeep guys =D.

 

I have a older set of Yokohama on my truck right now and they have been a great tire.but now that I'm not driving 90 miles a day to work 5 or 6 days a week I think I'm going to go to a 17 inch wheel and a more aggressive tire but probably not a true mud tire.still looking at sizes and brands

 

Actually if I take my Falken hat off for a second, this tire is actually quite intriguing: it appears to be a highway 5-rib all-season tire with the severe snow rating. There's no other tire like that on the market currently that I'm aware of. Hats off to Yokohama.

I'm excited to get my hands on a set of these for testing. I don't think I will need to bother with investing in off-road testing though...

Strictlys (assuming you're a dealer) - let us know what your impressions are when you get these Geolanders on your vehicles or customer vehicles. I'm looking forward to some real world feedback on this new tire. By the way the the Wrangler/Tacoma enthusiast/ownership is about 50/50 right now at Falken

Hate to bring up an old thread, but did you ever get the G015s? I just ordered a set of 'p' version. My truck is on road only.

 

I have had the tires in my garage with the new wheels in my garage for a few weeks. I was just rear ended a few weeks ago too. I am waiting for the insurance to get done and put them on. I have the P metrics as well. They are very very mild. The LT version has deeper tread depth , but like yourself my truck is on road. I was planning to get a set of cheap mudders if i can get the manufacture to send me a set as well to test.

 

Awesome! I am not a fan of the A/T look, so these are perfect for me. I just got the TRD Sema wheels and wanted a 70 series tire to fill the gap. I found the stock Toyo tires looks strange on the TRD Sema wheels. I know these tires are new, and I can't find any reviews on them. If they ride the same as the stock toyo's, then i'm happy.

 

I love geolanders. it got me all the way up bee canyon in a 2 wheel drive regukar cab tacoma. most people get stuck without 4 wheel drive. Ive also been through some crazy thick mud roads with these. I just kept the momentum and it did its job. love em

 

I have these on my truck and love them. Ride quality is as good as oem. Haven't taken them off road but my buddy at the tire shop has them on his Silverado and says they do just fine on mild off road applications

 

Hi, can you post a pic of them on the truck? Did you get the P or LT version?

 

I had the geolander at's on my 2nd gen and it's a great tire for roads wet and dry. Biggest surprise was sand performance. They were definitely the best sand tire out of the OEM BFs, revo's and geolanders. Aired down to 18psi they were great and allowed me to tackle climbs I was not able to do before

I did tear a side wall on some rocks off road which prompted and upgrade to the KO2s. But for pavement, sand and fireroad I would definitely use these again.
