I have to say it will find some yonder pretty damn quick if you let it have its head and run. After 3-3500 rpm you better hang on.

55 mph speed limits make the mt happy!! Lots of hills, total elevation change about -500 feet.

I also have zero sympathy for anyone who buys an automatic. I want to say so on every GD thread I see on this forum from people complaining about the '16's auto tranny but I hold back; I don't want to come across like an a-hole (but I will on this thread because we're mostly likeminded) but seriously...no excuse you give for wanting an auto, unless you're physically handicapped, will garner any sympathy from me. You're lazy and you wanted an auto, got it. Deal with your truck making decisions for you then, you don't get to complain about how it shifts because you bought it for that exact reason.

*sigh* It will be a sad, sad day when manuals are gone (in the U.S., most everywhere else on earth they'll continue to thrive).

I've always had a manual. First one was a shift on the column Ventura. Weird, but I got used to it. The next one was a drop-top VW Bug. That was a blast to drive. Once I got into trucks I went with the MT. I found it advantageous with off-road situations, pulling stumps, etc. Besides, they are more fun.

The Decline of Western Civilization Is Due to...Automatic Transmissions?! No, the moral decline of America is on our own shoulders, or should I say, beneath our feet; it is the automatic. The moral decline of America has come to us not in the form of "secular humanism," but in the form of FluidDrive, PowerDyne, Cruise-o-Matic.

I had this happen to me last night as well. The gate/spring seems to make it way too easy to hit reverse compared to my 2007.

Just get a short throw shifter. You'll never accidentally find reverse again.

Well, I did have a urd on the 2007:) yeah it was a beast to get into reverse when I added it. Hopefully a shift kit will be released for the 16 soon. I want to try the trd next though.

    None.. Yet....
This is my first post on these forums. My 2016 M/T TRD Sport arrives on the 20th. I am very excited. I have had a few people ask me "Why a stick?" my answer is always the same "It's fun to drive a manual and I feel like I am control of the vehicle"

I got a '16 SR5 DC 4x4 auto as loaner from the dealer today, with ONE mile on it! I never test drove an auto, it was MT or bust for me. With all the bitching I've seen on here I was expecting the auto to shift like a schizophrenic crack head. I really didn't find it all that bad. I'll be putting about 60 miles a day on it until I get my truck back (mid-week maybe) so I'll do a more thorough comparison then.

Same here, got one ordered as well, but debating on waiting for Pro instead. When is yours expected to be delivered?

Yea, I got the TRD a few weeks ago for my 2015, and there's no accidentally finding reverse. It really does take some effort. I usually just aggressively smack it to the left. Not sure what the hold up is with developing a short shifter for the 2016's.

As I was at my dealership again today waiting for the oilchange to be done on my girlfriends Yaris (sedan, great city cars); I decided it would be a good idea to go for another drive in on of the Tacomas on the lot. this is my second drive in the 2016s with a manual, and it was incredible the power after 3500rpm. I have reconfirmed my decision to purchase and can only hope to see my very own manual Taco out front of my house soon!
