    Hello,

Looking at picking up the Colt Competition 1911 in 9mm. I have quite a few pistols already but haven't owned 1911 before so I'm just curious as to if anyone here has any thoughts on it. The shop in town has one and I've been able to handle it (fondle really) and it's pretty comfy. I have fleeting dreams of doing some local competitions so this pistol seemed like a good place to start. The Kimber two-tone is in the same price range but the Colt comes with some nice features. I'm just rambling at this point. Thoughts on it?

Not a fan of Colt myself, Kimber is a good gun but both are overpriced.

Have you looked at Springfield Armory?

I wouldn't buy a new Colt or Kimber. There are better choices out there for the money. I.E. Springfield Armory, STI, Dan Wesson...

I looked at the Range Officer, don't know much about it though but being able to handle the pistol in the shop is a huge plus vs over the internet. I am looking for 9mm because this will be a range gun only and not a carry weapon.

I was originally going to get the STI Trojan 5.0 but then started looking at what's a bit cheaper out there. There is a shop in Reno where I looked at a Dan Wesson, seemed nice but for the price I would have just went the STI route.

Can't go wrong with the Range Officer.

Take a look at the Colt Commander in 9mm. I bought a new one last year for ~$740, and it shoots great. I've only put maybe 700 or so rounds through it, but it has performed flawlessly. Still, my favorite 9mm is the Hi-Power. I know it's not a 1911, but it's close enough.

    Truth.

BHP is a great 9mm option.

I would love to own one. I've shot a few and dig how they feel. I have a CZ75 and its my second fave 9 that I own aside from the EMP.

Someone may have already posted back to ya but...if you've never held either or just one, most guns model their grip angle off of the 1911 but glock has their own and is too funky of a change for me.

Thoughts on Remington buying and shutting down Para Ordinance? It may have been discussed in this thread since it was last year but I just saw that the other day when looking into the Pro Comp 9 by Para.

I don't own a CZ yet, but eventually I'd like to pick up a CZ 75 B. I own Glocks and they're fine guns, but those all steel pistols like the CZ 75 are just nice to hold and shoot.

I can't remember where I got this from, but I've retold it over and over again because I like it, and I think there's some truth to it ;):

"You show your enemies your Glocks, and show your friends your 1911's."

    I've had this CZ75 B for around 15 years. It's a great shooter.
