What do you mean, I'm confused. Oh wait, I see. Plug the mani fitting off completely and run the catch can vented to atmosphere?

Got the truck weighed today while picking up some boulders. With 2 people it weighed 4200lbs, so minus us about 3800lbs. That is freaking light as sh$t! Especially for a 4x4 with a turbo, 32" tires, and a front LT setup. And with 310whp thats impressive. Good stuff.

Loaded weight was with the rocks and us in there. ; ] Empty had the 2 of us inside.

Yeah, 3/8 hose is what the pcv system runs on, but the particular catch can Gio and I got off ebay (which is a sweet can for $25) runs 1/2" line which is way too huge. So for $5 more you can get brass nipple fitting for the proper size at autozone or wherever and then pick up steel scrub pads to put inside of the can from the grocery store.

Yeah man. I'm probably going to cap my pcv valve and intake mani and connect my catch can to the fitting on my oil cap (oil return for my old rear mount setup).

Turbos been smoking a lot of oil lately but only when I boost heavy. Not sure if a seal is leaking or if I'm getting some back up from my pcv valve and catch can. I totallyam thinking I just need to pull the pcv and run it straight to the catch can. I think my pcv may be not working so the crank case isn't venting. Oil is starting to collect from the valve covers and I just changed those a few miles ago. Any thoughts or recommendations?

    Answer from the other thread:

Turbo can be leaking oil too. If the feed and drain are not 100% up and down, when you shut down, oil can pool in the turbo and leak into the intake.

To test the PCV, just remove it and shake it lightly. You should hear a rattling. If not, its probably gunked up and a little carb cleaner sprayed into both ends generally will clear it up.

I cleaned it out already. There is no residue what so ever inside of the pcv hose run. Not a drip or nothing of oil. Makes me think it may just be old and bad but a guy said he runs and lot of boosted vehicles and to just take it out and put a 90° fitting in its place

Easier way to test it is to put a vacuum hose on it. Suck then blow (cold engine so you don't inhale any oil vapor. If it acts like a normal check valve then it's fine but if you can blow and suck through it or neither at all then it's time to replace it. I ended up plugging my pcv and running the back inlet line straight to the catch can. You can always replace the pcv valve for a 90deg bend like you said.

I believe you said your pcv goes from motor to catch can to motor. Maybe vent that sucker to atmosphere after catch can to try that. Looks like the whole pvc is getting pressurized.

Yeah I made the mistake of letting my system pressurize too much. I have a pretty nasty valve cover leak.

My is still just valve cover to atmosphere. I plan to put a catch can in between the 2 when I find a spot to put it.

Got the axle truss welded on the old t100 housing today. Just needs cleaned up, primed, and painted. Pretty much have everything I need to put my axle back together aND build my rear LT. Disc brakes came in. Went with the Chevy S10 brakes. The drums and brakes were shot on the axle I bought anyway, so, instead of buying new drums, pads, etc., just got discs. I know some guys say no but I've seen em done with good results too. Have to press in the new seals, bearings, and axles, and install the 3rd.

Whose truss kit is that? I should really do my tundra axle, but I really don't want to cut out that much steel if someone did the work.

Relentless Fab, modeled off of jberry813. It fit perfect. Was a pretty good deal too, about $125 shipped or so if I remember, thick steel too. I'm happy with it. Made the axle housing weigh a ton but I'm pretty sure it's fairly bulletproof at this point.

Noob question... what's the point of adding all that steel? Just for strength and rock damage protection?

When you jump your truck (as the OP is want to do), your rear axel can get bent. The trusses are pretty much required for jumping, desert running, etc...
