I'm wondering if a scuffed skid plate will void a warranty. Does anybody no for sure? Thank you

Naw. I'm wondering if I were to go and tell the stealership about a transmission issue, they would blame it on improper use. Which I wasn't. I just misjudged the size of a rock. Didn't go over it ask the way, but it scuffed the skid plate up pretty good.

I know but I remember reading sobering a long time ago that scraping the skid plate is improper use of a truck to insurance and warranty policies. But I'm not too sure of the credibility of the person who told me that

Thanks for the answers. Did not hit my transmission that's for sure. When I go from 1st into 2nd, though, it makes a somewhat hard thud noise and you can feel it too. It's done that since I've gotten it a week ago. Wasn't sure at first if it was something I was doing wrong with the clutch or if it was just needing to be broken in. But I know for sure it's something with the transmission. I'm thinking possibly a faulty synchronizer. Anybody have any thoughts?

When I'm accelerating, in the middle of switching from 1st gear into 2nd gear, when the clutch pedal is depressed all the way to the floor, a thud noise occurs when I slide it into 2nd gear, just before I go to let off of the clutch. I can also feel it.

I remember my old truck doing the same thing actually. I just figured it shouldn't be doing this with a brand new transmission. I'm looking around on here and finding that it's a common thing in all manual transmissions. That you gotta find it's sweet spots for a smooth shift between 1st and 2nd. I'm a little more comfortable knowing that

My truck's alignment was off from the factory (like *every* vehicle I have ever bought new. OK, that's only 3).

I took it off-roading and crunched the lower control arm on a rock to the point the tire lifted off the ground. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nVnYk2lZQis

There were clear scrape marks and a slight dent in the LCA when I took it into the dealer and said it needed an alignment under warranty.

They never said "boo". It probably depends on the dealer. Mine is pretty good about doing stuff under warranty.

    Notes:
    1. To be clear, the LCA impact had no effect on the alignment. It was off before and after and I didn't notice a difference after the event.
    2. There are significant restrictions on getting an alignment under warranty: It needs to be out of acceptable range (which is too wide); It needs to have less than 10k miles (I think that's it, I don't remember); You only get one alignment under warranty.

Well I would take the skid plate off, but that seems like it would definitely void a warranty being that the truck comes from the factory with 2 front end skid plates.
