I left mine out of the box for two days in a well ventilated room before installing but you're right, the smell was strong at first.

We'll see how long it takes.

What do they smell like? Leather? Chemicals?

I'm be no means an expert, but if I had to guess it would be a smell of chemicals/dye.

For folks on the fence... black matches some parts perfectly, but the Dark Grey does as well. there is no 'correct' color... it is personal preference. Black shows up dust and lint much better and is a bit hotter and makes the cab a bit more black overall, Dark grey just is not quite as a popular look as the all black. Either one looks fantastic really. I am just totally bummed that I dont think I can keep mine. They raise the seat too much and my head hits and after sitting on them for a 45 minute drive I have discovered leather is really not that comfortable. Somehow I gotta find some decent quality covers that do not add any increase in height. Bummed for sure. mine are going up for sale likely.

Yep, it's sort of a chemical smell mixed with the leather. Not sure if it's from the dye or the foam material used underneath. It will off gas for a few days, maybe even a couple of weeks but I expect it to dissipate over time.

Hell, I still have the plastics in the truck off gassing and it's been 6 weeks since I bought the truck.

Anyone sensitive to chemical scent may want to let them air out for a week or so before installing.

I'm 6'2 and really experienced nothing dramatic enough to earnest having to get rid of them as far as increased seat height. That's pretty extreme. I'd think you'd already be having height issues int he cab before the seat covers. Any 'high quality' cover is going to add some thinkness/height to the seat. I have to also ask though, if the height issue was THAT close with you hitting the roof of your cab, didn't you think that adding a seat cover with both leather and padding would be an issue? t personally think they are incredibly comfortable and have always had cloth interiors in every car I've ever owned, and after having these leather covers can't see ever going back. Looks better, won't stain and get nasty looking like cloth, more durable, etc. Maybe look into some Carhartt covers. Not the flashiest covers, but very durable and the amount of height they add is negligible. Bummer either way and best of luck.

Mine just had a faint leather smell. Don't even notice it now and if I can even remember, think it went away fairly fast.

I'm in the middle of my install and adding heated seats. Mine have been sitting out for a couple of weeks and there isn't any smell since airing them out.

Hey Sbpark, thanks for your input!!
Indeed, I was already close in height and researched the thickness increase the best I could. I had varying reports on here... everything from 1/8 inch to 1/2 inch to a beach towel folded over twice which I tried in the truck. I talked to Clazzio about my convern - they suggested I try them. BTW, they have been exceptional in response and in all interactions very helpful. I am impressed with them as a company so far. Good point about high quality covers adding height... question is how much. Clazzio does not make a thin one. Coverking does and the drill is the thinnest and I have some samples coming. Alternatively, I could modify the bezzel around the moonroof, but I dont want to go there either. Indeed, all the leather features sound great... just great... they will require a bit of maintenance over the years to keep in excellent shape... but the one down side is they do not breathe well and I think that would be my one complaint. Ive had experiences sitting on folks couches where I eventually get sweaty underknees, etc. I am going to sit in the truck a bit more and play with the seat Ergo... but it is an unlucky combination of a super long torso, and I like to sit up straight, and the moonroof drops the roof about 2 or 3 inches in the corners from the ones with no moonroof.

I will check out the carharts, thanks for the advice. I had not heard of them. Indeed, they are not as flashy, but may work out. The price of the Clazzios is really amazing... Lots of other covers that cost more look WAY WAY crappy. Kinda of amazing. I am indeed bummed but am kinda considering it a sign, they dont fit and the one long ride I had in them wasnt that great at the end. I think folks that run hot have issues with leather seats from what I have read.

Anyone else have trouble tucking this piece? What's the secret? I can't seem to get it to tuck under the plastic.

Yep! Just get one corner in and go at it. Eventually you'll make it happen.

Use the black tool that was supplied in your kit. The skinny end of the tool will help you tuck that

I just received my covers. I want to embroder the TRD Sport logo. I have to get the image digitized. Does anyone know the actual size of the logo? Could someone measure it for me ?

    Thanks

The reason I did not have it done by Clazzio is I have access to the embrodery machine.

This was the most difficult part of the install for me and I ended up using a different dash trim tool to finally pry it in. With that said, despite me trying to massage it out, this is the only part of my install I'm not happy with. The leather seems bunch in this area and nothing I've been able to do has helped much. I'll post a pic later.

Are you having the headrests or back of seat done? When Clazzio does it, is it on all the headrests? They charge $95 is that too expensive and could I get someone to embroidery it after I get the cover?

Back of the seat . Yes you can but they will have to send off the logo to get it digitized to their machine. All i need is the size. They charge by size and thread count.

That is one thing that has held me up from ordering clazzios is that I kind of want the TRD on the back of the seat like wet okole instead of the headrest.

I agree. I have the covers out in the sun working out the wrinkles. Once they are gone they are going on . With or without the embrodery.
