I ended up taking it down. One of the seams ripped when I put very little pressure on it. There was wind forecasted so I didn't want to make it worse. Haha

I am driving across the country the next two weekends but the end of April I may go camping again.

Been every month this year so far.

Nice! That's my plan this summer once the trails start to open up around here. Bummer about the seem, are you going to try to warranty it?

Yeah. I will try, not holding my breath.

I think the plan is to only use it when I know it will be cold and not windy. Also the awning isn't worth it if I am,alone or if the weather is nice. I am sure july will be different.

Around here it always seems to be windy lol. That's true you tend to just sleep in the back of the Runner right? That's pretty much what I'll be doing for awhile.

Yup. Seat bottoms removed and I sleep drivers side. If I am alone I throw food and stuff on the other side. If not i bring the roof box. I think my air pad has a leak.

I am thinking about building a platform with shelves. Don't want to loose too much head room though.

I've heard removing the seat bottoms give you a little bit more room. I'm debating doing it since I rarely if ever have anyone in the back seats. They have been folded down since the we did the lift. I've debated the platform but I think I would rather have a RTT if I were to go that route.

I would say it give you a good 6 inches. A heated foam platform with window shades would be nice. Haha

That is a good amount of room. Might have to remove them for the summer eventually. I found a heated blanket that plugs into the cigarette lighter, but that would require the Runner to be in the "On" position.

    Or dual battery.

My cb and phone charger are on permanent power. Very handy. Thinking about wiring up A circuit so I can use the Windows all the time too.

I still need to get my CB mounted up lol. Having a phone charger on permanent power would be nice. Use of the Windows all the time would be nice as well, especially in the summer.

Do what I'm gonna do. I'm going to eventually install a switch for the rear window and extra cig lighter in the back and wire them so that they don't require the key to be in. Will make camping in the back easier. Granted that won't solve a dead battery issue but its a start lol. If you end up getting a dual battery set up Like Danny shouldn't have any problems

I've found a compact jumper kit I was thinking of adding to my gear. Been stranded in the desert in Phoenix once with a dead vattery(in my buddies X-Terra). But that's a good plan to have power all the time.

Ouch. That doesn't sound fun. Hopefully wasn't summer time.

And yeah I agree. I don't mind with my front cig lighter because if I'm up there I want music playing anyways so might as well use the key. But for the back it would need constant power. Also with the switch I think its a necessity. that's one of the reasons I've never slept in my 4runner. Without the window down I can't open the tailgate and don't really want to look like an idiot jumping all over the place trying to get the key in or jumping out a door.

It was definitely in the middle of the summer lol

I just planned on using the rear doors to get in and out of the 4Runner when I sleep in the back.

Too much work. Also I believe my back doors are smaller then yours. I've noticed I have a hard time getting in back there. Oh well, not that I care. Friends will just have to deal with it lol

They probably are. Never had an issue with my Grand Cherokee which has pretty small doors.

why not rigging the relays so the cig lighters have power on at all times?

So today was highly annoying. Didn't even open garage door. Driving rain/snow and high winds all day. WTH NATURE!
