It is. I just had them send me the material because I wanted to weld all the pieces together myself.

This thread is getting stale again...

Are there any 2016 5 Luggers or are we done away with...

    They've gotta make one eventually....

Where I live alot of companies use them as work trucks (ORKIN, the exterminator company, uses them almost exclusively), I feel like they will be obliged to sell another 5 Lug Vehicle...

    At least I hope.

The 5-lug is a relatively common beater with small businesses/contractors here also. I see a few here and there putting in work on a regular basis. For fleet use, it's more commonly the base level GMC Colorado that i see.

Different market to the US up here - we didn't have the regular cab Tacoma available in Canada, and prices were always at a premium for Tacoma products as compared to the 'Domestic' competition - even for the base level.

I've heard that the elimination of the 5-lug variant is a costing rationalization decision on the part of Toyota - savings are to be had to standardize on the 6-lug platform, and produce in volume one line of components, rather than produce two separate lines of components for essentially the same body style of vehicle and maintain stock on them in warehousing. The 5-lug 2nd Generation, at least, always produced less of those models than the 6-lug version - and the profit derived from selling them was less, than 'up-selling' the customer to a more fully-featured 6-lug version.

    Yes
It is real, it is the third one from Mexico that has been posted the others were 06 and 07 double cabs. Those guys are dropping serious coin and using all OE Toyota parts to do it too.

For those of us, naturally and permanently blonde, and not enlightened in the ways of single cab-dom.. is this a conversion of some form?

I believe so. Reminds me of that picture floating around of a Tacoma with a 4Runner conversion in Mexico
