    Hi.

I have a '13 DC PreRunner 2.7. I bought is new and still very much like it. Now that it has 85K miles I thought about lifting it a little and putting on some ATs. I bought the Bilstein 5100s for the front & back. Installed the fronts at the 1.85" lift setting. It lifted it 3-4" and the ride is horrible (most likely binding). This morning I took it apart again and dropped it down 1 notch to the 0.85" setting. Took it for a test drive, came back, and it measured exactly the same at 3-4" of lift. A quick measurement of the shock bolt to the spring base and there is almost a 2" difference from the stock shock to the Bilstein. I need to take the wheel off to get a better measurement. Even if I drop it down to the lowest notch on the Bilstein I think it will still be way more than the 1.85" I was planning on. Is there any difference in the UCA, LCA, or shocks from a 4 cylinder PreRunner to a V6 or even a TRD? Trying to figure out why there is so much lift.

    Thanks.

Welcome to TW. Did you get new springs or reuse your factory ones? If you did get new springs, which ones?

Thanks for the quick response. I reused the factory springs. I tried to call Wheeler's, which is where I bought them, to see if I received the incorrect shocks for some reason, but they are closed on Saturday.

It's happened enough times that one should not feel dumb for accidentally doing it. I'm sure if you knew they were upside down you wouldn't have done it. Glad you got it fixed!! Enjoy your new (and now much safer) lift!!!

It is apparently quite common, even when the work is done in a shop, so don't feel too bad.
