What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Do you have a pic of the gap between fender and snorkel? Looks like it fits nicely!

 

k i have found info for bigger brakes on the tacoma from a post back in 2010 is that same info good to use or is there a better cheaper way to go? as my wife and i are looking to getting a trailer pretty soon and id like some more info on it as to what to look for.. ty in advance

 

Tundra brake mod, plenty of users here have done it. Too many for me to remember any single person but I'm sure someone will respond with pics and info.

 

Tundra brake upgrade, one of the best things I've done to the truck.

 

I wanna do this, just got some 35s and 16" wheels so the bigger calipers and rotors fit. Everyone's using the 31lw or something part number? I know it had a 3 and a "w" in it. Need to know what one to look for at the junkyard.

 

There are several castings for the calipers. The 13WL is probably the best/most common. LCE sells a kit that uses the smaller Tundra caliper casting.

Dipped the front Bumper, it occurred to me after several Brewskies it was time for a change.

 

^Hah! And here I was contemplating on taking mine off, as it's starting to peel off.

Not much, but I changed to the summer wheels I got with the truck, and I love them!

 

Doesn't that actually require you driving it off road?

 

I have the 98-00 OEM 4x4 corner lights if you want them.

Thanks. I already got some on order. It came with it, I just took them off. Previous owner scraped a wall and messed up the drivers side. So the grille was cracked, tabs are broke on things, he epoxied, zip tied, and duct taped stuff back in so ordered all new stuff. Plus the headlights are faded horribly. Got two new headlights and bezels with bulbs, passenger side corner light, grille, and two tailgate cables for about $100. Was going to get a bumper filler but they didn't have the side I needed. Only $1.50 too lol. So going to have to junkyard that or buy one from Toyota for $21.

 

either S13WE or S13WL brakes work. I forget which are which, but the version that was recalled work with 16" stock TRD wheels, and the newer version you pretty much have to go to 17" wheels. They were recalled because they were inadequate for the Tundra, not because a flaw in design. You'll have to modify the dust shield to fit the new caliper and will have to either drill out the banjo bolt from your stock lines or go with new stainless steel braided lines from wheelers that include a working banjo bolt. That's all there is to it.

 

the S13WE is the 199mm calipers and the S13WL is the 231mm calipers, from what i read if you have 16" wheels you need to have the WE calipers and if your got larger wheels then go for S13WL is from my understandings....could be wrong so correct me if i am please....

 

Some 16" rims works with 13wl I have SCS f5 and they work with the 13wl at 16"

 

Anyone know Which ones these are? WL or WE?

Is this really all you'd need to swap to tundra brakes? Well plus wheels of course.

 

Incorrect, I've got the 231 and the stock 16s fit.

I'm not usually one to say this, but there is so much info on Google it's absolutely crazy. They even have what specific rims fit.
