Can I use a Dale Sr. quote " The winner ain't the one with the fastest car. It's the one that refuses to lose"

That man MADE NASCAR an everyone sport and his words should carry some weight...............even with the "haters"

If Kyle Busch had hordes of dedicated fans, the stands wouldn't be so empty for truck & Busch series races. If your guy was a shoe-in to win, wouldn't you show up to cheer them on? This is a huge generalization, but I think Kyle Busch fans are largely comprised of people who've come into the sport in the last 5-7 years, who weren't around when he was in the #5, nor watched him climb the ranks out west.
The real core fans are the ones who go to the short tracks and watch the Kenseths, Truexs, and Larsons running <1/2 mile dirt and asphalt bullrings, and follow those careers.

I'm guessing you're one of those self appointed die hards, right? It's easy to get behind a guy who's always winning. That's why 48 used to have a ton of fans, same as Gordon.

Nah. I don't have time for all that. I get out to small tracks from time to time, but I talk to these old timers who have crazy stories about sponsoring the Sadlers & footing tire bills, or lending a hand wrenching on cars for these teams with young guys on the way up in the 80s, 90s. I know a guy who goes to over 100 races a year to watch the young talent developing.
I realized upon clicking "post" that my response seemed snarky. I didn't mean it negatively, as it's not a bad thing at all for young people without much grassroots experience to fall in love with the sport and pick a favorite driver.

I grew up watching the occasional Nascar, F1 and Indycar races, but enjoyed hanging out at the local drag strip and watching NHRA on TV. My first cup race wasn't until age 10.

... and don't forget Waltrip... still mouthy as all get out.

Haters gonna hate winners, 'cause they don't know how to win themselves.

I watch NASCAR (when I have time) for the racing, speed, strategies, crashes, and everything that happens at the track. I absolutely love Pocono and Michigan Raceway. I like the night races. I couldn't care any less which driver wins, who they married, what they had for breakfast, and the size of their house. They don't pay my bills.

I don't, however, like to see anybody injured.

It's entertainment, nothing more. Nothing to get worked up about.

I think Pocono and Michigan are the most boring places to watch. Of course they are all getting kind of boring since nascar has to monitor every little movement.

I like the speed, and the inevitable 'Big One'. The ending is usually exciting.

Me too... and Speed Vision is bye-bye too. We don't get squat up here in Canada (missed all of Speedweek), except races fed on TSN 2 or 4, and when it's on the major networks, the TSN feed is dubbed in its place.

I tried that too. Didn't work. Went to bed at 10. :drunk:
