Why'd you buy your Sport 4x4 instead of OR ?

The unpainted flares are my only reservation on the off road. But I agree with the financial analysis so am
ordering the OR. Question though, anyone have a solid mod for painting or vinyl wrapping the flares? Or will we be able to buy the flares aftermarket? Haven't seen a solid answer on this yet.

Yeah, yeah, I know.... bought two Tundras from them previously, TRD was cleaned spotless, odometr in OFF mode. Didn't look. But, its a good truck without issues so far, now has 7.5k miles. Stomp left foot so I think i'm driving clutch, grin.

Well, many can argue that all the stuff you guys are getting on your OR are purely for "looks" (or just bragging rights as well) since most of you either won't or simply can't drive that truck to an ounce of it's real ability, and your truck will never see any "real" off-roading, so where's the real value in that? If you want to talk value, the best bang for the buck is in the SR5. Incredibly capable truck for what 99% of us need a truck for, and much less than both the Sport or OR. So instead of constantly going the "best value" route, have a real conversation with yourself and ask yourself why you really bought that OR. Deep down you know that you probably won't be taking it off-road on anything that would justify that purchase.

So feel free to keep mocking the Sport guys, but most of you OR guys are just as guilty for buying something simply for looks as well.

This... I was originally looking at the sports and offroads exclusively. I opted for an sr5 and saved several thousand dollars. I really wanted the ground clearance and 4x4 for camping. Is any sane person seriously rock crawling their $40k daily driver?

For those of us that would like a sun roof, you can't get a SR5 with one. Maybe that will change for 2017.

I off road my truck at least twice per month. Hunting trips, trips on snowy and muddy ranch and forest roads. No way you'd go there in a 2wd and I've used crawl control already in a sandy riverbed crossing. We also have plenty of sandy washes here in the desert

I received a letter from the Regional Manager at Dealer Services International, Mark G Wells. I asked him as to why most of their builds seem to be usually on the TRD Sport as opposed to the TRD Off road packages here is his response, thank me later...

They also make a shit load more Sports than Off Roads. Statistically they will pick a Sport more often than an Off Road.

I ordered the Sport due to lack of offroading. I'll probably never utilize the locker and other features of the offroad. I'm happy just to have 4wd. The Sport is more suited with my driving. The Offroad in the white really looks good, though.

    Says it all!
More Sports are requested for their sporty looks, because... "most of them never leave the concrete"

Damn....c'mon guys, we all love Tacomas don't we? Why all the animosity toward one another over something as trivial as which package we decided to go for?

I mean, statistically that's probably correct....but I'd be willing to bet that as far as offroading goes, Toyota owners do it more often than any of the other manufacturer's customers, except for (I'm assuming) maybe Jeep?

Like they say in lonesome Dove its better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it. So off-road for me if I never use its full potential.
