or the stolen story is to throw you off. A lot of the cars that were in natural disasters in the south are being sold in the north because they don't have to list them as salvaged. It happened to a co-workers son who bought a truck for $32,000 many years ago and found out that is was only worth about 6000 when he went to sell it. I also bought a car from a guy that had been stolen. I had to pay the back 3 years of registration in CA.

Agreed. I'm not worried. I think the first thing to do is see if I can get the police report. I'll go from there.

WRONG. Guy I bought mine from did a little insurance thing when his friend was out drinking and crashed it. (Minor crash into a pole, air bags didn't deploy). Oh it was stolen.... But I played it hard core and dropped the price 5 grand. Still clean title

If I understood right at least in Ca. A salvage title is issued to a vehicle that was deemed "totaled" but not a total as in unable to be safely repaired for public highways, or repaired at all, It's generally a stopping point for adjusters to stop calculating damage $$$ amount & write off the loss as "totaled" Which the vehicle can be repaired road worthy & re-assigned as a salvage status, it CAN be fully insured & will be covered should another loss occurs but at a reduced rate...

This. It's called "DISCLOSURE" and it doesn't sound like they followed the law regarding your truck. They need to make this right for you or I would contact an attorney. (and I wouldn't go this route unless it's your last resort.) Good luck.

So I still haven't brought up the stolen part to the dealer. However, they forgot to have me sign a couple documents, so they've been hounding me to come back in the place. They're about an hour away though, and I haven't been able to get away. Today they revealed that if the papers aren't sent to the bank by Thursday, the deal is off. So I have a few days to think about keeping the truck or not.

Now is the time to dump it...otherwise with the theft on the carfax, you may have difficulty moving it down the road

ORs are hard to find. Took me 6 months to find a deal. I settled on 2014 as the best year for me. I'd return it if you can and get what you want.
